  Large park near St. Pete Pier

  Very well maintained with a couple dozen dogs playing well together on a Sat am. From there we walked the short distance to the St. Pete Pier which is a great family destination and dog friendly.

  Great Dog Park

  Found this park after walking St. Pete’s Pier and Vinoy Park on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of space, lots of dogs, shade and seating. Also has water areas and a spot you can hose your dogs off. There are separate runs for large and small dogs and a “Time Out” area. My husky and I enjoyed this spot and will return.

  Good sized and nicely shaded dog park

  We really enjoyed taking our dogs to this dog park. Big dog side is fairly large and well shaded. They also have water fountains for the dogs. One fountain is underwater creating a bit of a mud pit but other than that its a great park. They have a hose at the exit to cool dogs down. Right near the bay making it picturesque as well.

  Park Is Great, Owners Not So Much

  Review for the dog park: The park itself was great. The other OWNERS CLEARLY NEED TO LEARN DOG PARK ETIQUETTE. Things were great until we were in the exit pen getting ready to leave. I was rinsing my dogs off when a another owner brought his leashed dog into the exit pen with my dogs. He then proceeded to let one of my dogs loose when he went to exit. This could have resulted in my dog getting hit by a car or running off (she’s a fearful recently rescued whippet). I then had to instruct him not to chase my dog bc she’s fearful of strangers. DOG PARK ETIQUETTE: Do NOT let your dog in the exit pen with other dogs. This can lead to a dog fight or a dog escaping. Do NOT leash your dog before entering the exit pen as this can lead to a dog fight. Do NOT chase a frightened dog. Rant over. The park itself is really nice. It’s shaded, has watering stations, is super clean (people clearly do pick up here), and has a dog rinsing station. It’s mostly mulched with some grassy areas. There were a few mud puddles but we came right after a heavy rain.

  Mind the mud puddles.

  I visited some 4-5 hours after a rain storm, and there were multiple large mud puddles where the pups were getting filthy.

  I did not encounter any owners with attitude. Not the best park, but not the worst, either. Handy if you live downtown or intend to visit the Dalí museum after.

  Wonderful Dog Park

  I have been going to North Shore Dog Park nearly every day for the entire 7 years that my dog has been in this world (and before that, with my first dog, although not as often), and I must chime in to say that I totally disagree with the review by "Terri", which stated that North Shore Dog Park culture is mainly people with purebred dogs. Nothing could be further from the truth: there are all kinds of dogs and people at North Shore. Most of us evening regulars on the small dog side have dogs who are rescues, adopted from shelters. It is absolutely NOT a snobby park in any sense: like I said, there is a very diverse and wonderful group of humans and canines.

  The park has a large dog side and a small dog side, water stations so your dog can stay hydrated, a washing station at one entrance so that you can rinse your dog off if s/he gets dirty or muddy, benches, shade and cell phone charging station (on the big dog side). Another nice thing is that the location is along the beautiful St. Petersburg waterfront of Tampa Bay, set in a long string of green parks, so if for some reason you want to leave the park and walk your dog (like, on the rare occasions when an aggressive dog comes in, or if anything else is going on in the park, such as maybe someone brings in a child who is chasing the dogs or whatever), you can simply take your dog for a gorgeous walk through the park system and/or downtown St. Petersburg and/or the beautiful Old Northeast neighborhood of St. Pete.

  Like I said, I've been going to the dog park almost every night for seven years, and before that, only not as frequently. There is a great group of regulars on the small side that comes every evening, and I know there is a morning group of regulars as well. Nice people, nice dogs, and many of us have become good friends who do things outside of the dog park together as well.

  spacious, friendly, plenty of water

  Visiting from out of town. Happened by this nice quiet dog park. People were friendly, dogs were just fine. Lots of shady spots to sit while dog socialized. Lots of water fountains. Even a shower on the way out. Great park.

  huge and busy park

  I'm from out of state so I was just visiting, passing through when I saw this park. The reviews are some what good but some here has been posting not so great stuff. Let me sort something out; these people probably just been there once and had a bad experience - that doesn't mean that it's always like that though! I was there twice in one day and both times were awesome. I did see one aggressive dog there - which my dog just avoided - but the owner took care of it right away and left. The park is really good. It's big, it has obstacles, picnic areas, benches and water for the dogs - there's even a hose so you can hose down your dog on a hot day (or if your dog gets gross). People there were really friendly too. Busy park in a very good way

  Great for the little dogs

  My Westie and I stay on the small dog side and always have a good time. It can get pretty rowdy on the big dog side. The city installed a cell phone recharging station there to make it convenient for people to not pay attention to their dogs.

  Parks are suppose to be enjoyable

  You and your dogs experience will all depend on the time of day you go. I have been twice. The first time was pleasant, but the second time (8:30 - 9am) was not relaxing at all. There are few dogs there that are not controlled by their owners. One dog was over excited and excessively barking. My dog and I were stressed out so we left.

  Friendly!?

  I've been to this park many times, my dogs are seniors and NOT fancy smancy.. they are mutts, this park is not really very friendly, but it's mostly the people I've met, the dogs are find. I've heard WAY too many dog parents talking about where they bought their purebred dogs. It's just THAT kind of park. Too bad too it's a really nice dog partk.

  TRAUMATIZED BY LARGE DOGS

  This was my first experience in a dog park w/a new rescue puppy. He was set upon and thrown on his back by a large aggressive dog, whose owner had no control over it's behavior. I am still dealing w/the consequences of this because my dog now fears large dogs. I will never take him to this park again. I have found the Park at Cresent Lake to have a much friendlier group of dogs & owners.

  Large park, lots of dogs

  Great park in St Petersburg's Historic Old Northeast Neighborhood. Very popular, so there are always dogs for my dog to play with. There is water available, as well as a variety of surface materials, mulch, gravel, grass for the dogs to play in. Picninc tables are available for the owners. Overall a clean dog park with plenty of room for the dogs to run. The biggest drawback is the parking. This are of St Pete has festivals almost every weekend, which shuts down the parking if you are trying to get to the dog park on Saturday or Sunday.

  Friendly, really?

  EVERY TIME I have visited this dog park I have had to leave earlier than expected due to the presence of combatant dogs and apathetic dog owners! I have older dogs (mastiff & white lab) who do not have an aggressive bone in their bodies; they have been chased then attacked, intimidated, and molested.all within sight of owners who tell me that is just how dogs are!!! This is NOT a dog friendly park unless you have the biggest, meanest dog there! Visit this dog park at your dog's own risk.

  North Shore Dog Park

  best Dog Park for St Pete residents and their pets. Owners are responsible for the most part- fairly clean of poop - but still lacking in this area even with posted signs. Safe - large area to run - MANY dogs at almost all open hours - especially evenings. Bad part - every weekend there is a festival at the "people park" downtown St Pete and this means no parking for the dog park - no access unless you park really far away and walk in.
