Animas River Trail

The Animas River Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Durango! The map below shows a trailhead where you can pick up the Animas River Trail. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has generously provided map data for this trail to Bring Fido for informational purposes only. For more detailed trail information, please visit TrailLink.com. Beautiful and well maintained

We brought our dogs here twice during our stay. It’s a very nice paved trail with lots of trash cans along it and well maintained and clean. our dogs also go to access the river to splash a bit and they loved it.

    excellent walk with your pup!

This is not a park where you let Fido play but a place you take them for a long or short walk. Bring poop bags with you and take it back with you.
Very enjoyable as you walk alongside the river. Enjoy! We sure did while visiting Durango!!
