Tanner Park

Salt Lake City, UT's Tanner Park is great place for Fido to get some exercise outdoors! The pet-friendly park goes down in a gully, and at the bottom there is a bridge where many folks let their dogs off leash to play in the creek. The current is strong, so please use caution. This is not your typical fenced in dog park. It is like hiking in the wilderness. There are no bathrooms or watering areas so be sure to bring your own. There are a number of bag and waste stations. Please be aware that the hike back up and out is not as easy. Visit Website

Great fun for all while on a cross country road trip

I had no idea what to expect; we stopped here on a cross country road trip to stretch our legs. All I knew is that it was a dog park so I was surprised to see so many off leash dogs on the very long walk down to the park. We were all impressed and excited to find a creek with dogs having a blast playing in the water. We then walked the length of the park to another water area and my dog had SUCH a good time. He had a big goofy grin on his face and there were so many other happy dogs. I was glad I had the foresight to pack wipes and towels because he was quite dirty after but it was well worth it! Definitely recommend and would definitely go back next time I drive through.

    Great dog friendly hike

Rita enjoyed her time at Tanner Park. Signs indicate to keep your dog(s) on leash, but the majority of the dogs were off leash beyond the park entrance. It feels like a mini hike! There are creeks were dogs can enter and play in the water. Great for these hot temperatures! Rita had a blast! Definitely coming back.

    Tucked away.. kinda.

I had to ask for help to get to the entrance, but we always have a great time (pretty much taking a hike lol)
The park has poopie bags around for convenience and is so full of smells the pups are pooped when we leave. Also, we have never had a negative experience here. Would recommend!

    Clean Waterhole with easy hiking

We took our kids and two dogs to this park today. There is a light trail that winds down into several different parts along the waterway.

    Utah’s Best Dog Park

All the reviews are right! Such a cool place. My dog is so exhausted after spending an hour here. Between the two creeks he can swim in and so much room to run and explore it’s the perfect park for a dog to be a dog!

One Of The Best Dog Parks In SLC!

We love this one!! It’s better on a cooler day though since it’s mostly in the hot sun. There’s a couple areas for dogs to go in water too. Great dog park!

    Fun for the Pups!

We love this park! It's not a typical dog park where the dogs are in a field and the owners stand around. This park is stretched out along a creek with trails through trees so it feels like you're on a hike (although it's only about 1.5-2 miles roundtrip). There are a lot of fences providing security along the way, but it is not technically fully fenced in, so be careful if you have a runner. There are a couple spots where pups can jump in the creek and splash around (just watch out for the currents) and people ride tubes down the drain pipe at one of the watering holes. I've never seen an aggressive dog here and the owners have seemed pretty responsible, so it feels safe for my more shy dog. There are also shady portions along the way for the hot days.

    Great Park

My only complaint is the trash cans are open tops and so all the dog poop makes most of it smell bad.

    It is off leash

The description erroneously say that it’s not an official “ off leash park.” The main park is not, but the fully filled with trails and streams and even the bridge is all licensed off leash

    So much fun!

It's such a fun dog park trail, my dog Cleo loves the water and enjoys splashing around. Owners are great too, everyone is so friendly and understanding of dog things. It's a great place to get your dogs more socialised and get a nice work out for you and your pup!

    Fun for dogs

We love going here. Only huge hang up is my dogs and my friends dogs get sick here. We prefer other parks, this one is fun on occasion, but some dogs parents. 😕

    Awesome

There is an off leash trail and an awesome little creek that all the dogs play in. Property is largely fenced so you don't have to worry about the highway. Very friendly dogs & owners.

Great place for both dogs and people

My fiance and I did a road trip from Colorado to California in May and we found this little hidden gem. Its amazing!!! The dogs had a blast playing in the creek and running all around the park. Its a cool place if you wanna go for a somewhat quiet walk/hike as our dogs like to make a lot of noise when they play. Its a very beautiful place as well plenty of lush green grass and gorgeous mountain views. If you live in SLC or are planning on taking a trip through I would definitely recommend stopping here for a while. The park up top is great too as there are picnic tables and covered area that you can enjoy a nice picnic lunch which we did after a few hours of playing and getting dirty.

    Awesome Park

The park is a little hard to find. It is located at the bottom of a service road to the immediate right of Tanner Park. Follow the road and it takes you to the creek. LOTS of big puppies, extremely well behaved dogs and owners. I will continue to visit this location. Gives me a nice workout and my puppy enjoyed the socializing. Take water since I keep reading conflicting info on the creek water.

great park, friendly dogs, one caveat..

My dog had a blast splashing, wrestling, and chasing other dogs in the creek! One caveat to our morning of fun: the creek is infested with Giardia spores. The signs on the way down to the creek, warning that pets with diarrhea may not enter the water, should have alerted me. My dog took a few hearty gulps of the water that she and others were playing in. Several days later, she is having frequent, runny stools and accidents in the house with no warning (she is completely house-trained otherwise). Our vet confirmed, and they get several Giardia cases per week from this one dog park alone. Enjoy some off-leash time with your canine friend, but keep him/her out of the water. Its not worth it!

    Best dog park in SLC!

I'm a basset hound and this is my favorite place to come on weekends! The other people and dogs are usually very friendly.

    Awesome !!!!

Great place with a lot of space, nice trails and exciting bushes for a little cocker spaniel ! With all the snow, it's a great place to enjoy a long walk with plenty of friends, especially before heading to the Cottowoods canyons, where dogs a prohibited (watershed protection), strictly enforced !

    Much Loved Park

Parley's Hollow/Creek/Tanner Dog Park is one of the best places I consistently take my dog. We appreciate the open creek access and swimming holes. We appreciate the work that has been done on the trails and care that patrons take to pick up after their pets. We enjoy seeing the same families and seeing familiar faces (dog and human). We enjoy the off leash mentality with well behaved dogs.

    Tanner Park ROCKS!!

We have so much fun at Tanner park with our dog! It is so nice to be able to have a place to let our dog off leash and run around like the puppy he is, he has the time of his life while at the same time we are getting a nice workout hiking around with him :) As long as people keep picking up their dogs poop it will stay the PERFECT place to take our "baby" :)
