    Wonderful experience

This was my pup's first time ever visiting a dog park and this was such a wonderful experience. Water was easily accessible and there was SOOO much room to play. There are obstacles and other fixtures for the dogs to play on. Overall, great park and will definitely visit again.

    Great dog park

This is a large park with lots of ball chasing room. Multiple spigots for water. Parking is weird because you can't see the dog park from the lot but worth it.

Park is nice but some ppl bring bad dogs

We had to make a trip to Westerville so we brought our Great Dane pup who is 6mons old to the park for so social work before her starts his Service Dog training. Everything was going great all the dogs were getting along. Then a man brought his American Bulldog in who was not so friendly. My pup was attacked not once but 3 times before we could get him out of there. The man stood and laughed as my pup was screaming from being bit. To say the least I was very very made and this will prob set back his training by weeks. As we were leaving we saw others taking their dogs out and leaving or have to take there big dogs to the small area. We always loved the park when we lived up that way but after this we will never go back again.

    Nice facility for an outing

The reason the one reviewer called this a business is that the address for the dog park is actually 708 Park Meadow Rd. Westerville, OH 43081. The other address listed is indeed a business.

We have gone to this DP a few times now. Parking is indeed in a business' lot and you do have to walk up the hill to get to the park. It's not really that easy to know that a DP is up there until you walk the path. There is a sign identifying the park at the street level. But, if you’re using GPS and the incorrect address, you’ll miss that.

At the top of the hill is a nice common area with a water fountain and dog watering station. There is a picnic table in the central area as well as public notice boards. There are 3 dog areas. One is marked for small dogs. One area is marked for large dogs which has been posted as closed each time we've been there.

The third area is a mixed social area. It is very large with ample room to run and play. The watering station is close to the opening gate which causes some difficulty in entering because the dogs congregate. Some dog owners are oblivious to the inconvenience their dogs may be causing other visitors to the park.

All in all the area is nice. Some of the people visitors are cautious with their animals as they probably are with their children. Others sit off to the side on the benches texting, etc. and not paying attention to their doggy friend. I've seen some aggressive behavior between dogs. The people need some training as to how to avoid and stop that behavior. I suppose they don't read the postings which explain what to do. Mostly the handlers need to be attentive to their own doggy friend and be able to control them.

Children under a certain age are supposed to not be allowed in the DP. But, I've seen children under that limit each time I've been there. Columbus is not a super dog friendly town. So many restrictions is not uncommon to encounter. I’ve not seen age limits before in DP’s in other cities and states. I suppose the age limits are for the protection of the children. Having seen some of the confrontations, I get it.

I probably wouldn't bring my child into the mixed social area. The small dog area seems more sedate. It's too bad that the big dog pen wasn't open as I would have liked my calm guy to be in there.
The only thing I did notice was that on the way out of the parking lot, someone allowed their large dog(s) to leave behind 2-3 piles of poop. I don't know why it's so hard for some people to clean up after their dogs. But, this resistance to cleaning up is probably why the City in general is not more dog friendly. There is poop around the perimeter of the large mixed social area as well. But, not too much. When we've been there, the people in the mixed social area have cleaned up after their dogs.

All in all a nice place. It would be nice if there was something of interest in the mixed area for the dogs to climb on, go under, explore. I’m looking forward to the large dog area to reopen so I can see if there’s something for my big guy to play on/explore in there. The small dog area did seem to have some platforms in it.

The central area is very nice. There is an emergency phone there in the event help was needed.

We will continue to use this dog park.

    Brooksedge

We lived in Westerville, have used this DP a number of times. My husband used to work at the engineering firm that shares a parking lot with the dog park. You can't see the dog park from the parking lot, but if you follow the sidewalk up the hill: Ta da! This park is kind of dirty- LOTS of poop along the perimeter, always. Sadly, Columbus metroparks do not allow dogs on their hiking trails.

    We go almost every day

This not a business. It is a city park maintained by Westerville. We go to the small dog side & my doggy loves it. She's made lots of friends there.

    Brooksedge Dog Park

This is definitely a dog park, not a business as stated in the previous review. It has two large areas for large dogs (they rotate throughout the season to keep the grass from getting destroyed) and one area for small dogs. The parking is just south of the park at a business, you then walk up a small hill to the dog park.

There are always great dogs there and it seems like most are 'regulars'. A great place in the fall and early spring, but can get hot in the summer due to trees only covering the outskirts of the play area.
