    so dog park

I'm retired and love coming here with my dog. He loves it. He mostly goes off by himself and does his own thing . sometimes he finds a petal and hangs with them, it's usually a female and he hugs and lickes her. The owner gets upset. Sorry but that's what dogs do. A few people are bullys too bad you like me coming here . I stay by myself too just like my dog.

    Just Fine

I cannot believe there are people who complain about a dog park. Dogs will be dogs...It is funny hearing people say their dog was attacked unprovoked. People are talking and not paying attention to their dogs? Good Lord! Well that is because there is a fence around the place.. let the dogs be dogs and enjoy the company of other people. Other than another person grabbing my dog or kicking I couldn't care less..just enjoy watching my small little dog interact with other dogs..and he always comes back tired which is great.....he has been nipped at, growled at and intimidated by other dogs some times but that just comes with the territory. guess what you might get bit too.....you have to be assuming most of the responsibility walking into a caged area with animals...

    Nope

I've been here several times and every time I go there's a problem. Most of the time it's people who refuse to watch their dogs. They don't pick up after them, they let them get aggressive, you name it. The park is almost always muddy and covered in feces.
Then there are the people who bring in their toddler children and let them run up to any dog in the park. A lot of dogs do not like having children in their face. I saw one dog bark at a child that kept trying to hug him and the parent yelled at the dog. Wtf?
    Never an enjoyable experience.

    Fleas!

I have 2 dogs, 1 of which is a 5 month puppy with all shots and neutered. I have begun taking them both to teach the puppy socialization. The first time we went, there was a man with a wolf there. Kind of took me back to see one in a public place. Yes, it's muddy but that is to be expected. Subsequent visits have brought home more fleas than I would ever have imagined! Both dogs have been treated, and I suppose I should have expected that but an unwelcome experience. My other complaint is that people do NOT pick up after their dog's excrement!! Why, when the bags are even provided. I want to be enjoying the outdoors with my dogs, not watching where I am walking. Sat down for a moment in a chair, and realized I had put the leg of the chair in a pile! Ew! Not pleasant at all.

    Always needs a bath afterwards

2/2017 it's a real mud hole right now, even several days after the last rain.

The small dog area was very muddy at both entrances. I had to bathe my dog when we got home. It would be nice if someone would address this problem.

The park is nice, have been here a few times. It does get muddy, but that's to be expected that's Mother Nature. It's the end of March, the Park's not muddy today. My only complaint us the water is not turned on., and there are burr bushes, you gave to check your dogs fur and paws, and pick the burrs out. I believe these burr bushes should be removed from the park, for a more pleasurable experience for the dogs & their owners.

the people mess this place up

Like a few other people have mentioned on here that some owners need to pay attention to their dogs. I was trying to get my dog out of the fenced in area because there was a man with his dog and once i called mine he yanked his dogs leash and kicked my dog therefore making the dogs fight. Hewas very rude my dog was under control but as soon add he reacted both his and mine also reacted. I am sure my dog slipped in the fence before i could grab her but as soon ashe kicked my dog that's the end of that.

    2 thumbs & 4 big paws up

Our fav park ... Large enough to play and run ... Yet small enough to watch and control your dog's outing ... We've been there half a dozen times so far and really like it ... Responsible owners ... Nice pooches ... Great space ...

    Dog Lover

I have been going to this dog park almost everyday for 8 years with my 2 Labs. I like to share some tips on how to have a good time for you and your dog.
    1. Go to the park at the same time every time. You get to meet the same people and your dog will see the same dogs and get comfortable with those dogs and people (dogs make friends too).

3 things are common when dogs fight. First the dogs don't know each other and it's usally over a toy or food. If you have 2 dogs that know each other they are far less likely to fight and they play hard when they trust each other. When my 2 Labs go at it many times someone new to the park will ask if somebody is going to break it up until they find out their sisters and that normal play for them. As for peole talking with each all the time how else or we going the solve the world's problems !

    never again

I had been to this dog park a few times before the final experience and found it to be mostly dirt/mud and many of the owners stand around and talk to each other, not paying attention to their own dogs. My pitbull/lab mix was running around and trying to get another dog to play with her(no aggression). The owner didn't want any dog bothering his so he grabbed MY dog by the collar and lifted her off her feet and yelled in her face. I was stunned. No more

    Would not recommend

My sister and I tried this park once with her dog. We found the park to be dirty and muddy, and there were several dogs there that acted in an aggressive manner. We eventually left because her dog kept getting jumped at and snapped at by other dogs, and at least one of the attacks was completely unprovoked. The owners of the aggressive dogs did not appear to be keeping a close eye on their dogs or correcting their dogs at all. My sister is a regular at dog parks with her dog, and said that this was the worst one she has ever been at. I would not recommend this park.

best dog park in allegheny county

My dog and I visited this dog park today, and it was by far our favorite. There were over twenty very well behaved dogs there today. No fights, or fuss. Plenty of room to run, places to sit, a water fountain, and it is completely enclosed. There is mulch and grass throughout. I will definitely be coming back more often!

    Largely Good Experiences

This is a well-used dog park, and thus the grass is patchy in places. During dry weather, you'll get a bit dusty, and during wet weather you'll want to carry towels in your vehicle to towel off your dog after park use.

My dogs span a range from 11 pounds to 150 pounds, and we've never had a bad experience with other dogs or their owners. We spend time in the park at least once weekly, usually more often than that.

I recommend the park to anyone who understands that dog parks are an excuse for dogs and people to get a bit dirty, and knows that not all dogs will enjoy being with all other dogs and knows how to pull their dog(s) out of potentially difficult or dangerous situations (true of ALL dog parks).
