Hanging Rock Battlefield Trail

The Hanging Rock Battlefield Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Salem! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Hanging Rock Battlefield Trail. Rails-to-Trails Conservancy has generously provided map data for this trail to Bring Fido for informational purposes only. For more detailed trail information, please visit TrailLink.com. HANGING ROCK BATTLEFIELD

GOOD TRAIL IN A "PINCH". MOST OF IT GOES THRU RESIDENTIAL STREET. VERY FLAT, NICE AND GOOD FOR DOGS. (PLEASE PICK UP POO!)
AT FAR END, CONTINUE PAST 311 INTO WOODED
AREA TO THE RIGHT, AND CLIMB ROCKS. YOU CAN EXTEND HIKE ABOUT A MILE BY WALKING ALONG US81. NOT VERY SCENIC, BUT GOOD TO
"GET OUT OF THE HOUSE". WATER AVAILABLE IN THE CREEK NEAR 311 FOR YOUR DOG. THERE IS
A GAS STATION YOU CAN GET SOMETHING TO DRINK OR EAT IF YOU WANT TO.
