    Best Cruise

Perfect amount of time. Narrative was informative and funny.
Our pups loved their first boat ride!

    Dogs are no longer allowed

Their website says due to circumstances beyond their control, dogs are no longer allowed on cruises. 😢

    Very Dog Friendly!!

We took the 10:30am mimosa cruise with our chihuahua and absolutely loved it. There were 2 other large dogs on the boat as well.

    So much fun!

We had a great time with Gansett Cruises! We brought our two dogs to Newport, and were so excited to be able to bring them out on the water. Both of our girls were welcomed, given treats at the dock, and everyone loved petting them. As it was noted by others, dogs are only allowed on the lower level, and either need to be on the floor or in your lap - not on the benches. This was perfect for us - the boat seemed to have a relaxing effect on our girls, and they were extra cuddly, which was a bonus for us!

    Excellent Experience

Sarge had a great time on the boat. The crew was very dog friendly! Yes, the dogs aren’t allowed on the top deck, but we were still able to enjoy all the views from the main deck. The stairs to the top is more like a ladder, so it’s just not safe for a large dog to be climbing up, especially on a boat. The tour guide was very insightful and the views were excellent! We were very happy to be able to have our fur-child with us!

Allows pets, but not exactly pet friendly

To keep it short, dogs cant go on upper deck, can walk around on the boat, cant sit on the sofa.. if ur fur baby is small, u can make him/her sit on your lap and enjoy the view else he/she has to sit at your feet on the floor.. i liked the cruise because it is the only one i found that allowed my baby with me.. but was dissappointed because there is no point in taking him if cant enjoy the view and breeze.. to make our time worthwhile we somehow managed to fit our 90 lbs lab baby into our laps for sometime which made us happy and the trip worth remembering..

    Beautiful!

After seeing these great reviews, we signed up for the sunset cruise. Mak loved to have the wind in his ears and the staff was so accommodating to both us and him. Highly recommend it if you your pup is a fan of the adventurous life!

    Great Cruise!

This is a great tour. We had Patrick has our tour guide - hilarious. There were 2 dogs on the boat (including my 1 dog). The staff was polite and asked me to sit in a general area because it's a tight boat and she'd be walking in that aisle a lot to serve drinks. All the guests loved our dog and petted him a lot! Great enjoyable ride. It is tight quarters so just be mindful of other people and you'll have a good time :)

    Fantastic!

I'm a Golden Doodle almost a year-old and had a great time! I was a little nervous that I wouldn't feel very welcome on the boat after reading some reviews, but everyone was very friendly. Patrick our tour guide was funny, informative, and a dog owner/lover. I really enjoyed my first boat ride!

    Great Trip

We were looking for an activity we could do with our Cavalier King Charles and found the Gansett Tours website which indicated they were dog friendly. There were 2 dogs on that cruise and we positioned ourselves so that there would be no issues. The crew was great, taking time to talk to each of the owners separately about the dogs being aboard and explaining the details, although the website outlined all the rules for dogs. It was a great experience, and our dog really seemed to enjoy himself watching the waves and other boats go by. We would recommend this trip to dog owners. Make sure you know the rules before you go, and everyone will have a great time.

    fantastic

We had such a nice time with Max, he's a baby so it was his first big day out. The tour director approached us to give us some tips and everyone was super nice. They have water and a extremely accommodating. Looking forward to doing it again!!

    awesome!!!

This is a great little cruise for you and your pet. Everyone was extremely nice to my dog. Only issue I had was getting my dog on the boat. She's an English bulldog so she had a little difficulty but the crew helped and there was even applause once we got on! If you have an athletic dog, you will be fine :)

    HORRIBLE - NOT DOG FRIENDLY

I went out on a cruise on Gansett Cruises last Sunday and it was an awful experience. The captain of the ship is incredibly rude, unresponsive, and condescending.

My boyfriend and I have a very well behaved retriever. We called ahead to ask if we could bring her. We were told not only could we bring her “but [they] welcome dogs and are excited to have her on board!” No one told us there were any sort of restrictions.

Getting on the boat we went to the upper level. We were told that dogs could not sit there we must sit down on the lower level and that the captain didn’t really like dogs on his boat. Please note, the crew and tour guide were fantastic, the captain was a jerk. He never even greeted those of us on the boat and looked very surly. Our dog was on a leash (obviously) and laid down in front of us. The two children next to us were apparently afraid of dogs and started screaming. We asked if we could move to the front of the boat so the kids wouldn’t be bothered and were told no because we had a dog. So essentially the children screamed and crawled on their poor parents the entire 90 minutes. Not fun for anyone. We took out a Tupperware of food for the dog since it is a 90 minute cruise and were told we could not have any dog food. Strange, as they serve adults and children food and drinks.

Upon exiting the boat I approached the gentleman working the booth and asked who I could direct my concerns to. The captain quickly approached and asked “what my problem was.” I explained and he told me I could have sat in the front of the boat (no apology for being told I couldn’t, though) and that he had 11 dogs on his boat last week. Not really sure what that had to do with anything. He was incredibly rude, told me people don’t bring their dogs on the boat “to wander and feed” – neither of which we were doing.

I certainly understand having restrictions. But a company has an obligation to advise passengers of those restrictions. Just as I should have been told my dog was only allowed on certain parts of the boat, the families should have known there was a possibility of a dog being on the boat so they could choose another boat given their children’s fear.

If we had have been advised of the restrictions prior to boarding we would not have taken the cruise.

We are out $52, 90 minutes of our lives, and are incredibly offended.

We are from Massachusetts where false advertisement and deceptive practices is governed by Chapter 93A. I will be looking into the Rhode Island law mirroring this and plan on writing the equivalent of a 93A letter to the relevant authorities. The captain had a duty to inform us of the restrictions and he breach that duty. And, he was a jerk.

Try one of the many other cruises. This isn’t worth your time or money.

Great tour! We felt very welcome on the boat! Our cockapoo enjoyed the covered shaded area and the cool breeze off the water!

    Our special needs girl

Just wanted to let you know what a great job the crew did taking care of our special needs girl (11 years old). This is the first time we've used Gansett and both my husband and I were very pleased!! We especially appreciated Karen's care, we could not be more happy with the service.
