    Buggy but pretty

So we ended up doing it 2 days the first day we went around the swamp for free and went towards the gardens halfway through the day and started pouring rain but it let up after 30-45 minutes. So after the rain mosquitoes came out and got us (aka my husband) so he would say bring your bug spray. The second day was better sunny and pretty day in the gardens!

    So much fun!

This place is awesome! Dogs are allowed on the majority of the grounds with the exception of a few buildings that are clearly marked. This place is a ton of walking and depending on the time of the year can be very hot so be sure to have water for yourself and your pup. The trails do not have a lot of signs so keep your map handy. We saw several alligators in the marsh areas. Great bird watching too! The grounds are natural and beautiful. There aren't many food options at the cafe, mostly just quick snacks. We had a great time and would definitely go back!

    Beautiful grounds!

As advertised on the website, dogs aren’t allowed in the house, on tours or the tram, so you pay general admission for the gardens. Its still very pretty and nice to walk around - my dog tired herself out with all the smells!

    Expensive and Restrictive

Paid $52 for entry and than were restricted from going to the highlights. We were not allowed on the tram, house tour, slave quarters or the zoo area. It was a very hot day and we left after about 30 minutes.

    Nice walk through the grounds

We had a very nice walk through the lovely plantation gardens. Would be better in the spring instead of the super humid summer but still nice. Watch out for the alligators! We saw some in the waters there so keep your dog on a short leash and don’t let them near the water.

    Awesome spot!

Plenty of shaded trails and benches throughout the trail. Not a lot of water fountains so be sure to bring some water and a bowl for your pup, and keep an eye on the alligators that roam the property.

Great place to visit history and walk your pooch.

We spent a morning here with our dog.We we’re able to take the dog on the Slavery to Freedom tour which was the reason we wanted to visit. The grounds are beautiful.

    Highly recommend

Beautiful property. My golden retriever and I did the nature tour. Recommend for well behaved dogs or you will have long 45 minutes (that’s how long it is and you ride the tram)
As always, don’t bring your dog if it’s not well behaved and ruin it for all of us where they will stop allowing dogs.

    So Beautiful!

We had a blast visiting magnolia plantations with our golden Finnley. There were a lot of dogs there and the place was super pet friendly. The only thing we couldn’t do was bring the dog in the petting zoo and inside the plantation. We were able to take him on the tram ride tour which was a lot of fun! The gardens were breath taking and the live oaks everywhere are just so magical.

    Beautiful and Very Dog-Friendly

My family of four had a fantastic time at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. They are incredibly dog-friendly and our dog was able to go on the nature tram tour which he loved. The only places he couldn't go were the house and petting zoo but we were more interested in the other tours and gardens, so it worked out great. Very friendly staff. If you keep your receipt, you can return to the gardens again free of charge within one week. We also bought canned foods which they exchanged for one admission which was great! Fantastic place!

    Very dog friendly!

Our pup was a welcomed visitor to Magnolia Gardens. He was allowed everywhere except the mansion and petting zoo. He sat in on the 30m orientation video, was welcomed on the nature tram, toured the conservatory and the gardens. The nature tram was his favorite and we had two other pups on the tram with us. Great day for all.

    A Highlight Of Our Vacay

We were really debating bringing out 6 pound Morkie because of alligators but so glad we did. This place is gorgeous and I didn’t feel worried at all once there. We walked through the gardens, took the tram and brought a picnic (there’s a snack bar too). There were plenty of places that were far from swampy waters and on the tram when we did see gators our pup was perfectly safe watching from our laps. Other areas walking I felt safe too but to be extra sure we just picked him up for a couple minutes when passing the water or kept him on a short leash. Beautiful place!

    Magnolia Plantation

Our baby had a great time as they are very dog friendly. My only warning is to keep them on a short leash as there are alligators in the swamps. Extra caution.

    Nice excursion

We brought our two children (3 and 8) and 2 small dogs with us. It was a nice day but very hot. There is sufficient shade throughout the park. Found water dish by cafe and gift shop and saw 1-2 doggie stations so I’d be prepared with bags. JWe passed on house tour as our 3 year old son likes to be held too and dogs need to be carried. Nature tram tour was very nice. The kids enjoyed the petting zoo, note dogs not permitted inside enclosure. The peacocks do freely roam the park so be vigilant with your more active dogs. They do have a cafe with a decent selection of food but I wish we would have brought a cooler lunch for picnic. Overall very nice day and everyone was pretty exhausted after. Only reason not 5, is I thought things were a bit expensive for a family.

Lots of walking paths, friendly staff

It was a very HUMID day when we visited and staff pointed out water bowls in several places. We ended up cutting our visit short but ended it with a stop at the gift shop. We stopped right at the inside of the door and waited on the mat. I asked if dogs were allowed in and the ladies said that they were indeed. I'm glad because it helped us both cool off. When I was leaving (had made a purchase), the cashier asked if he could have a treat. How nice!

    Perfect place for your dog!

This place was so dog friendly, and everyone was very nice about us having our dog. We loved it so much we went twice, which your ticket has free admission for your next admission if you come within a week. Limited trashcans and make sure you bring your poop bags but otherwise perfect for dogs!

    Fun excursion

Spent an afternoon walking the trails and our mid-sized dogs even got to go on the 45-minute Nature Tram with us. If water bowls are ever set out here, it would truly become a five bone experience.

A great place to spend the day

We just walked the gardens and skipped all the side tours, especially since my dogs are too big to fit into the tram. Be very careful near the water because we did have a small gator that seemed to be paying way too much attention to us and looked like it was trying to swim closer. Even in early March, it gets muggy so be prepared for the heat and humidity, especially if you're from snowy areas. I would definitely go back again.

Beautiful, but pass on the swamp

We didn't do the house because my Eskie is too large to carry and we didn't do the boat tour because it wasn't offered, The garden paths were plentiful and I gave up on trying to follow the map. Meandering around worked fine. The nature tour (tram) was interesting but bumpy. Keep your pup close as it is easy to jump out. Bumpy ride aside, I wouldn't hesitate to do the nature tour again--our guide was informative and entertaining. However, I CANNOT RECOMMEND THE SWAMP TOUR BECAUSE THEY DON'T ALLOW YOU TO TAKE ANY BEVERAGES, INCLUDING WATER, AND NONE IS AVAILABLE FOR THE PUPS. So on a warm sunny day, your pouch may get thirsty; on a hot day you and the pooch will suffer. If it weren't for the ban on beverages on the swamp tour, I would have given 5 stars.

    Beautiful dog friendly plantation!

We took our daughter and two dogs here for our first morning in Charleston. The grounds are very expansive and we were able to walk around with our dogs for 2 hours (could have gone for longer but they were pooped!) We took them up to an observation deck overlooking the marshes and around their bridges and gardens. It does cost $15 a person but it was a lovely outing and good example of a southern plantation. My dogs are too big to carry but I hear they're allowed in the plantation house if you carry them! Relaxed on the porch swing after with them panting at our feet. Awesome :)

    Relaxing

Some of the house tour got a little boring, but the grounds were beautiful and the boat tour was relaxing and informative. Our tour guide Sy was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun for everyone, including the dog. It was a good time.

    Beautiful walk

This place is beautiful. They have a long winding path amongst all the blossoming trees. Benches are tucked into shaded areas. It was a nice way to walk the dogs before a long car ride home and people along the trail were very friendly towards my dogs.

    DOG FRIENDLY

IT WAS GREAT THAT THE PLANTATION ALLOWED DOGS ON THE GROUNDS. WATER PROVIDED ALONG THE PATH.
IF YOU CAN PICK UP YOUR DOG, THEN HE OR SHE CAN ALSO GO INTO THE HOUSE.
    BEAUTIFUL GARDENS.
