Beaver Brook Trail

Leashed dogs are welcome on Beaver Brook Trail, a strenuous, pet-friendly hike on the south rim of Clear Creek Canyon in Golden, CO. Even though the trail isn't far from Denver, it's difficult enough that Fido will think he's on a rural, backcountry hike. The trail is not a loop, but is 10-miles one-way with limited trail markers. Please remember your starting point, and bring a map, food and water on this difficult hike. Visit Website

LOVE!!! can't wait to go back with family and my dog again

My friend and I went on this hike for the first time with our three dogs. Found it online and thought we would give it a shot as neither of us live in Colorado. We absolutely LOVED IT! Im not a hiker and neither is my dog so I was a little worried about the terrain but it turned out great,. There were a few tough spots over rocks but for the most part I would say difficulty of 2 1/2 out of 5? I did see a few kids and smaller dogs doing the hike. The dogs has a BLAST in the water and the trail was in the shade most of the time which was great. I got there at 7:15 in the morning on a Saturday and the parking lot only had 2 spots open. By the time we left there were hundreds of cars, so glad we went early. There was quite a bit of traffic on the trail, had to "pull over" to let people by. Everyone was wearing masks so that was nice but maybe even going earlier would have been better to avoid it.

    Great Hike!

We parked on the road and had easy time finding our way around the park. Half the trail was closed due to recent weather but the detour was only 0.8 mi different from the trail. Highly recommended if you’re in the area and want to take the pup for a hike

    Lots of rocks!

We walked the first two miles of this trail before heading back. Not because it wasn't great, but because my dog is just a pup. The first 1/2 mile of this trail is quite rocky but not terrible. Just remember to look up occasionally to see the long views to the west on the backside of Lookout Mt. Stay right at the fork at the 1/2 mile mark and expect to navigate a couple of Boulder fields about 100 yards each. There is a tricky spot about a mile in where my puppy needed some encouragement, but she made it. For the most part the trail is through the trees so well shaded. There was some road noise from I-70 far below (a dizzying sight) but it wasn't excessive.

    Hard to Find

This place is a little tricky to find. It's at the summit of the hill with a few parking spot. Once parked , near the garbage cans you'll find the trail head. This trail is a little shady so bring an extra sweater. It's also a little busy but not as populated as the surrounding areas in Golden.

    Wonderful Escape

Great hike, peaceful and long enough not to be too crowded even on weekends.

    Fantastic!

This trail was recommended to me, the walk down the canyon to the river is pretty easy and rocky. Once at the river, the trail crosses over it multiple time, which Kaya loved. The hike back up was a little difficult at times. It was shaded almost the whole trail and the scenery was beautiful. Definitely recommend to a hiker with some experience.
