Royal Arch Trail

Royal Arch Trail is a challenging and heavily trafficked 3.2-mile hike in Boulder, CO, that will take about 4 hours to complete with Fido. You can't get any closer to the vertical face of the Flatirons unless you are a climber, so bring Fido along to enjoy the views and exercise. Dogs must be leashed while on the trail. Visit Website

    Difficult Hike

There is a portion of the hike where you need to scramble downhill. This can be difficult or unsafe for dogs who tend to pull on the leash. People usually carry their dogs or let them off the leash for this portion.

    Rocky climb

Plenty of dogs on the trail, great views, but not a hike for inexperienced hiking dogs as there is quite a rocky vertical climb late in the trail (roughly last 25 minutes). Our Husky was a trooper but turned around at roughly 10 minutes to summit. Our opinion, no ruffwear booties needed. Disclaimer, we hit some light rain which made the rocks a bit slick.
