- MikeOct 22, 2018Good hike for puppies new to hiking
Did this with our 9 month old Huskies. They've been on a few short hikes, but this was the first longer one. Not much in the way of elevation and trail was in good condition so a nice hike for them to stretch their hiking legs.
First half has quite a bit of tree cover. Second half is exposed, so be mindful of the heat/ sun/ elements. No water sources
I read that you park on the street (which we did) but noticed a small fenced parking area on the corner past the fire station.
About 8 miles (roundtrip). Fun hike. Remember to hike responsibly and pack out all trash- including poop bags. Wish there was a trash can around the trailhead. I used the dumpster at the fire station.

Easy and extremely dog friendly. Perfect terrain and length. Beautiful scenery. We went in April and the weather was perfect, but could easily see how it would be really hot in summer. Can't wait to go back.

I've done this hike a couple times during April. There is lots of neat wildlife and desert flowers/plants that time of year. You will probly come across some cows and horses and you get to see some different landscapes. If you want it a bit longer there are a couple ways to make vairations to the out and back too.
