    Fantastic dog park

My dogs love this park and park right up when I tell them they’re going. They love the small dog area but also enjoy the bigger section and playing in the water. It’s really nice and very clean with lots of room for running and playing!

    Best Dog Park Around

We found this spot by happenstance while traveling through from Massachusetts. In all our travels from New England to New Orleans, this is definitely my pup’s favorite dog park. There’s so much space and the doggies love to splash in the river.

    Great Park, Not Fully Fenced

Yes, the users of this park need to be more responsible about picking up after their pets… and yes, on weekends, the park does draw a large number of people whose dogs aren’t well monitored or trained, and who don’t understand dog park etiquette. Still, I’m amused by one of the comments here - “small dog owners don’t stay in the small dog area?” They don’t HAVE to! This is a park for ALL dogs, and all dogs should have good dog manners if they’re in a dog park. If you aren’t comfortable navigating around less-than-stellar owners and possibly problematic dogs, try coming on a weekday when more users are locals. It’s a lovely park, and even on a weekend, you should be able to find some space for you and your dog to play. As mentioned, do be aware of the current in the river - particularly after heavy rains or in spring melt season.

    Great Location

I love this park! plenty of space for little and big dogs to play separately! they even have benches for us parents to sit and watch. Also there’s a stream the dogs can play in if you walk down the back side of the big dog area.

    Awesome Park Lots Of Fun

MY golden retriever loves it! His favorite place! He swims everywhere then dry off in the grass area. Highly recommend for large/medium dogs. Small dogs have separate small area without access to water tho.

    Nice park!

We enjoyed the huge field, trails in the woods, and river to play in. Only been once and it was empty, but we'll be back.

Lots of really nice people here who love their dogs. Beautiful grounds and well maintained. I enjoy this place as much as my dogs do. 💕🐾

    mostly good

People of course ruin it- not picking up or not having trained their dog to behave or to listen to them. People bringing their larger n aggressive dogs into the small dog section. People 🙄

    The river

No other dog park has a river in it there is lots of room for the dogs to run and a great place to swim the only downfall it is not fenced in

    My pup loves it

I've taken my husky Aspen here twice now and I think it's a great place. She does great off leash with the other dogs, theres water for her to swim in, two trails to walk on and there's a small dog section. My only issue is that some of the small dog owners don't like to stay in the small dog section.

    Disappointing

I went here twice with my boyfriend and our dog Ella and we were very disappointed. We thought this would be a great place to exercise our dog but we were wrong!! First of all it's the only dog park that I've been to that smells of poop everywhere you go and not just by the garbage. This was also probably because no one picked up after their dog and it was a poop minefield. Also people just take their dogs here with no idea of what is appropriate dog behavior. They don't watch their dogs for red flags on aggressive behavior. I did not feel assured by other visitors and the control they had on their dogs. There are other parks in Woodbury that are way better for dogs and their owners. They are not officially dog parks or off leash but if you go often enough and know the usual visitors you will see how balanced dogs are off leash!

    Great Park

I was there yesterday with Marlowe the Pug and he had a great time. Very friendly people and nice dogs. We had a good time in the main area as well as the small dog area. Also a nice little creek at the back of the park if you want to get wet

    Largest dog park in CT

The best part about this park is its size. So huge and grassy, dogs can run far and free. As others said, there are some trails to walk through the woods and a creek for the dogs to cool off. theres a fenced in area in the front for small dogs. It is very popular (not a huge deal since its so big) so you should NOT bring your dog if it is aggressive/not good with lots of other dogs. My dog loves it!!

    Great park for dogs

Great open spaces for dogs to play in and run around, trails for hiking in the woods, several access points to the river; smaller fenced area for small dogs.
Only fenced by the parking lot; dogs can wander into adjacent private property if not supervised. Beware of holes however.

    Strong current

Over all this is a great park, but the current in the stream can be very dangerous. Keep an eye on your dog if its playing in the water.

Some people are bringing dogs that shouldn't be in a dog park. If your dog is aggressive or doesn't like other dogs this is not the park for you. Example...if my dog takes your dogs toy it shouldn't be a big deal for the dog or the owner. Its called playing.

    Beautiful but ruined

Great land and creek for dogs. Well maintained. But in 2 visits was so bummed by aggressive dogs hounding mine and a few clueless owners who don't get that they need to be responsible for their dogs some of which clearly don't belong at a dog park! If your dog is a tyrant and you can't control it, you shouldn't be at a public dog park!

    It was fun!

It was the first dog park of the year and we chose to go to the Southbury dog park. It was a great location since it was off road, and the front gate was very safe. It was very exciting to see dogs can run free on the field and the owners were watching their dogs very closely. The stream was even more fun, especially on a hot day. We really had a blast!

    dog poop

Beautiful place but it's a shame that some pet owners do not pick up dog droppings. They were everywhere!

    lots of fun

Great park: open meadow, stream to play and swim in, some wooded paths. There is a small completely fenced in area. Also park benches for people.
The only reason it doesn't have 5 bones, is that it's not completely fenced in.
