  A Great Idea butt…

  We brought our small dog to this dog park for the first time. I immediately noticed the huge amount of dog feces left behind both fresh and old. We filled up the huge pooper scooper two times before we could let our dog loose. There were also empty water bottles strewn about. I did not see a sign within the small dog section about cleaning up after your dog. I say shame on the dog owners that should know better. I also think that it should be monitored Pequannick.

  My dog loves this park! Yes, it could benefit from mulch, or grass, instead of mud, but it is free and maintained by the owners. If more people who use the park gave more donations and suggested to the owners maybe they would then consider these options.Being someone who goes there almost every day and most weekends, I have never been "kicked out" so they can close. Most times they let you stay as long as it is light out, or, the store is open because the gate to the park closes the rear end of their store. Fair enough. During the summer there is a hose hooked up to the spicket so you can hose your dog down before leaving, and, in the winter you can have your dog's picture taken with Santa for free, while enjoying coffee and cookies and donuts; also free, AND your dog gets a complimentary "goody bag" filled with treats and a toy!!! My dog loves this place and I thank the owners for providing us with it!!!

  think before you do

  I think the dog park was a great idea in town but I think Pequannock Feed needs to keep up with the park maintenance a little better. If you took the initiative to take on this project, you need to follow through. The park is ALWAYS a muddy mess due to poor planning and rain water pooling in the middle of the park. Grass should have been planted instead of a mixture of weeds and stones, not to mention no one enforcing the rules... oh wait I'm sorry, the only time you ever see an employee is when they ask you to leave so the store can close. Yes, that would be the only 'rule' that Pequannock Feed enforces: the closing time. Again, I think this was a great idea... but Pequannock Feed sucks at running a dog park.

  Thanks to the owners

  I would just like to thank the owners of Pequannock Feed for giving West Milford one of the best things to happen for a long time to dog owners and the dogs! Great group of people and dogs! I take both my dogs to Wantage Dog park when I have time for the drive but the one in West Milford is great when I only want to drive 15 minutes rather than nearly an hour.
