Keewaydin Island

Dog-friendly Keeywadin Island in Naples, FL is a sanctuary for wildlife and recreation. The 8-mile long barrier island is one of southwest Florida’s largest unabridged barrier islands. Dogs are allowed on the beach, but they must be leashed. A boat is needed to access the island and there are no facilities once you arrive. If you're in need of a boat, there are several rental companies that allow dogs in the Naples area, including Naples Bay Resort & Marina. Visit Website

Or call (239) 530-5972 for more information.

Cool if you're out on a boat

This is a island off the southern tip of Naples, but can only be accessed by boat. It's a short hop over a channel from either Naples or Marco, but you can't walk or swim it. A dingy or canoe would do. Once there, it's anything goes, no one is there. Great for camping, fishing, shell collecting...

Off leash but need a ride

I am in the middle of relocating to Naples so my dogs haven't been here yet. However I have been to and passed by Keewaydin island several times and dog are off leash there, so if you have a means to get there, paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing or motor boating you can make it a nice family trip ;-)
However once I am fully installed I will offer doggy trips there, which should be latest spring 2015

    Try Sanibel Island

Naples with a lot of resident dog owners, it is sad to see no dog access beaches in an accessible location. I have been coming to Southwest Florida for over 25 years, always to Sanibel Island..pet friendly beaches...

    How do I get there?

I wanted to go but couldn't figure out how to get there - except for going by boat - since there is no connection to the mainland. The provided address is not near the beaches on Keewaydin Island. I wonder who provided this info.
