Leashed dogs are welcome to join you on one of the many hiking trails. There are easy and moderate loops that offer great views of the water and forest, or you can try one of the in-and-out trails. The Mersey Meadow, Hemlocks and Hardwoods, and Gold Mines trails are self-guided and the informative panels throughout provide details about the natural and cultural resources the park protects. Cape Breton Highlands National Park Cape Breton Highlands National Park is pet-friendly. All of Canada's National Parks allow dogs in picnic areas, at campsites and on any trails. One of Canada’s most enchanting places, the world-famous Cabot Trail winds through this giant national park. On the trail and beyond, you'll notice forested river canyons carved into the ancient plateau, surrounded by cliffs. Keep your eyes open for moose and bald eagles. Point Pleasant Park Point Pleasant Park is one of Halifax Regional Municipality's great civic spaces. It is the largest forested park on the Halifax peninsula and offers fine views of the Atlantic Ocean. It is also one of about 7 off leash parks for dogs in the HRM - and the oldest dog park in Halifax. There is an off leash part and a "no-dogs at all after 10am" part, so consult the well marked signage inside the park. See Details
Truro-Bible Hill Off-Leash Dog Park Bring Fido to run freely at the Truro-Bible Hill Off-Leash Dog Park. The Dog Park is more than a hectare of fenced-in property. It includes grassy play areas, trees, and water. Dog owners are asked to follow the rules posted at the Park. Children under twelve years of age are not permitted anytime. Shubie Park Shubie Park is a pet-friendly park in Dartmouth. This urban park has a lake on either side and is a great place to explore with your leashed pooch. There are canals, trails and benches throughout the park, but the highlight is an off-leash area. The space is not fenced, so keep an eye on your pup and don't let them wander too far away. Sherbrooke Village Dogs are welcome in the streets and in buildings in this historical re-enactment village. Sherbrooke Village depicts a typical Nova Scotian village from 1860 to pre-WW1. With approximately 80 buildings, over 25 of those open to the public, most with costumed interpreters, it is the largest Nova Scotia Museum site.
