Pet Friendly Dauphin Island Beach in Dauphin Island, AL
Dogs on a leash are allowed on the public beach year round. The public beach near the Red School House and the old fishing pier is the largest area on Dauphin Island set aside for dogs and their owners to romp and play on the sand and in the surf. There are at least a couple of miles of beach there, and with Sand Island now connected to Dauphin Island, there is another three miles of undeveloped beach jutting out into the Gulf on that barrier island. Though dogs are allowed at Dauphin Island's primary public beach and at the Dauphin Island Campground, dogs are not allowed at the West End Beach Park on the Island's extreme west end.

Fort Morgan Beach is dog-friendly. Dogs should be leashed at all times and owners must clean up any waste. The Mobile bayside beach from the old Fort Morgan Pier all the way to the Old Fisherman's Wharf is the only beach that allows dogs. Beyond the Old Fisherman's Wharf is a Federal Wildlife area so dogs are not permitted beyond that point.

Dogs are welcome in most parks as long as the dog is on a leash. Bike and horseback riding trails may not allow dogs for safety reasons. Dogs are not allowed in stores, food service areas, bathhouse, pool or swimming areas. Dogs can not be left unattended and will be confiscated if left in a hot car more than 30 minutes. Gulf State Park’s two miles of beaches greet you with plenty of white sun-kissed sand, surging surf, seagulls, and seashells, but there is more than sand and surf to sink your toes into. Hugh S.
