Pet Friendly Fort Gaines
Fort Gaines Dogs are welcome to join their owners at the pet-friendly Fort Gaines on Dauphin Island, AL. The famous phrase, “Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead," was first shouted by Admiral Farragut during the Battle of Mobile Bay at this very spot. The fort has original cannons, a blacksmith shop, kitchens, a museum, gift shop, and tunnels. Leashed dogs are welcome, with the request that you clean up after them. See Details
Pet Friendly Dauphin Island Beach
Dauphin Island Beach Dauphin Island Beach in Alabama offers an area where Fido is welcome year round. The dog-friendly area is located near the Red School House and the old fishing pier. There are at least a couple of miles of beach there, and with Sand Island now connected to Dauphin Island, there are another three miles of undeveloped beach jutting out into the Gulf on that barrier island. Fort Morgan State Historic Site Fort Morgan State Historic Site in Gulf Shores, AL invites leashed dogs to tour the fort. The admission fee includes access to the dog beach (bayside only). There are unpaved hiking trails on the property that Fido can explore with you. Gulf State Park Gulf State Park is a dog-friendly park in Gulf Shores, AL, featuring 25 miles of paved trails for walking or biking. Rent a bike from the camp store. Dogs are welcome in most areas of the park as long as the dog is on a leash. Bike and horseback riding trails may not allow dogs for safety reasons. Dogs are not allowed in stores, food service areas, bathhouse, pool or swimming areas. Dogs can not be left unattended and will be confiscated if left in a hot car more than 30 minutes. See Details
Fort Morgan Historic Site Bayside Beach The bayside area of beach of Fort Morgan Historic Site in Gulf Shores, AL is dog friendly. Dogs should be leashed at all times and owners must clean up any waste. The Mobile bayside beach from the old Fort Morgan Pier all the way to the Old Fisherman's Wharf is the only beach that allows dogs. Beyond the Old Fisherman's Wharf is a Federal Wildlife area so dogs are not permitted beyond that point. The diverse area includes longleaf sand ridges, oak maritime forest, dunes, pine flatwoods, freshwater marshes, and coastal hardwood swamps.
