Dragonfly Dog Park & Nature Trails Furry friends of Maysville, NC are invited to explore the Dragonfly Dog Park & Nature Trails at Safe Harbor Farm. This local recreation area features three enclosed dog park spaces where pups can explore and play off-leash. Leashed dogs are also welcome to stroll along the two miles of pet-friendly paths throughout the woods. Dogs may not run free within Onslow Beach Recreation Area and must be kept on a leash no longer than 10 feet. Dogs are only allowed beach access at the Pet Beach located south of the Sand Dollar Shores Pavilion. Dog owners are reminded to clean up any mess that is left behind. Island Creek Forest Walk The Island Creek Forest Walk is an easy dog-friendly hike in Pollocksville, NC. This 0.5-mile hike is located within the Croatan National Forest and will take about 30 minutes to complete with Fido. The Croatan National Forest offers multiple opportunities for recreation including swimming, boating, fishing, and camping. This trail is well-shaded, but can still get pretty warm and mosquito-ridden in the summer, so be sure to pack plenty of water and bug spray.
