One of the most popular stories is that of the Pukwedgies, creepy three-foot trolls that wander around bothering visitors, much like Fido. You can explore this stunning and occasionally eerie place on the 50-miles of trails, some of which lead to Profile Rock with a fantastic view of the state's southern coast. Just in case you see a Pukwedgie in their natural habitat, make sure Fido remains on a leash for the duration of their visit and all mess is cleaned up after them. Before you set sail from the terminal at Woods Hole on Cape Cod, cashiers at the ticket booth have been known to stock treats and bowls of water.
