Oleta River State Park Oleta River State Park is pet-friendly. Located 30 minutes from downtown Miami, this park is bisected by the Oleta River and is home to a lovely natural oasis of hardwood hammocks and mangroves. Escaping the hustle and bustle of Miami isn't difficult with this place on your doorstep. The area is actually Florida’s largest urban park, containing trails for mountain bikers, water sections for paddlers, anglers, and swimmers. Alternatively, you can bring Fido for a picnic at Biscayne Bay. Oleta River State Park is open every day of the week from 8am to 8pm. See Details
Haulover Beach Park Haulover Beach Park features a bark park with an enclosure for small dogs (less than 35 lbs.) and large dogs (more than 35 lbs.) located near the south picnic area. Entrance to the bark park is through parking lot #3 located on the west side of Collins Avenue if traveling southbound or through parking lot #4 located on the east side of Collins Avenue if traveling northbound. The bark park features shade trees, picnic tables, and drinking fountains for both dogs and their companions, as well as doggie waste bag dispensers and waste containers. The park is open daily from 8am to 4pm in the designated beach area between lifeguard tower #2 and #3 only. Dogs are welcome with their companion on the portion of the beach directly across from the bark park and accessible through parking lots #3 and #4. Dogs must be on a leash at all times except within the designated beach area. See Details
Fort Lauderdale Canine Beach Fort Lauderdale allows dogs on-leash in a large marked area of the beach. There are dog bags, water, and beach showers at this dog park. There is even a city officer on site to help with any problems and rule enforcement at the beach. The beach is close to the road, but officer and dunes are both between the beach and the road, so really, the only issue is parking. The beach is only open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Hobie Island Beach Park Hobie Beach is Miami-Dade County's only dog-friendly beach. This off-leash beach is a man-made pooch paradise. Your pooch can roam around the sand and dive into the water, but be careful of the windsurfers slaloming around the water. Dog Beach of Hollywood Head out to the Dog Beach of Hollywood where all members of your family, canines included, can enjoy fun at the beach. The dog beach is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, year-round. Hours are 3:00 pm-7:00 pm, November through May, and 5:00 pm-9:00 pm, April through October. Daily passes and six-month passes are available from a park ranger during dog beach hours or The Department of Recreation and Cultural Arts, 1405 S. 28th Avenue. The Dog Beach of Hollywood is monitored by a park ranger, however, good dog park etiquette is highly encouraged regardless. Bark Beach at North Shore Open Space Park Bark Beach at North Shore Open Space Park sits adjacent to the eight-block oceanfront natural area of North Shore Open Space Park (also pet-friendly for dogs on leashes) with jogging trails, exercise stations, and picnic pavilions. The park is only open for dogs Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:30pm to 5:30pm. The adjoining North Shore is a charming neighborhood filled with tropical mid-century modern buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places - which provides a great place to dry off with an evening stroll after your swim. A great place to explore old Miami Beach the way if used to be (without the hustle and bustle of South Beach). South Dade Trail The South Dade Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Happy Tails Dog Park at Seminole Park Happy Tails Park is a great place to walk your dog and meet friends. Located at Seminole Park in the City of Plantation, the park provides five acres dedicated to man's best friend. The park is home to the Plantation Canine Unit and features three distinct activity areas -- a leash free run and fun area for large dogs, an exercise area ideal for agility training, and an area for smaller dogs (twenty-five pounds or less). The park features ample parking, restroom facilities and pavilions, and is open to the public from 7:00 a.m. until dusk, seven days a week. Holiday hours will vary.
