Pet Friendly White Sands National Park
White Sands National Park Fido is welcome to explore the extremely rare gypsum sand dunes at White Sands National Park in Alamogordo, NM. Dogs are permitted as long as they are on a leash no longer than 6', cleaned up after, given lots of water, and never left unattended. Dogs are not allowed inside White Sands' visitor center. Admire the expanse of sparkling sand and panoramic mountain views by hiking the pet-friendly Alkali Flat Trail. This sandy trail is well-marked but does not have any shade. Visitors should plan to hike the trail in Spring, Autumn, or in the early morning and evening if visiting in summertime. Carry plenty of water for yourself and Fido. See Details
Pet Friendly ABQ Trolley Company
ABQ Trolley Company Well-behaved, leashed pets are welcome to join their humans for an 85-minute narrated tour aboard ABQ Trolley Company's open-air trolley in Albuquerque, NM. Frank S. Ortiz Dog Park This spectacular off-leash park has 138 acres of arroyos and hills, miles of trails, and commanding views of Santa Fe, NM. Frank S. Ortiz Dog Park is one of the largest parks of its kind in the United States. The dog-friendly park is not fenced-in, but dogs can roam comfortably on the trails without approaching the outer perimeters. Dogs are allowed off leash to run and play. PistachioLand PistachioLand offers a dog-friendly tour of a pistachio tree ranch in Alamogordo, NM. Leashed dogs are welcome to join you as you tour the grounds on a motorized vehicle operated by staff, take a picture next to the "World's Largest Pistachio," and although they don't have a full dog menu, they offer pup cups in the country store to take home. The two stores offer pistachio samples and free wine tasting. See Details
Roswell UFO Spacewalk Roswell UFO Spacewalk in Roswell, NM, is pet friendly. The Spacewalk features a walk-through blacklight alien adventure that transports you onto an alien ship and planet. Pecos National Historical Park Pecos National Historical Park in Pecos, NM, is dog- riendly. In addition to the well-known pueblo and mission, the park offers many other connections to Southwestern history and culture: a stage stop on the Santa Fe Trail, Civil War battle sites, New Mexico ranch history, Route 66 history, and more. International UFO Museum & Research Center The pet-friendly International UFO Museum & Research Center in Roswell, NM, was created to inform the public about what has come to be known as "The Roswell Incident." The museum is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to the collection and preservation of materials and information related to the 1947 Roswell Incident and other unexplained phenomena related to UFO research. Petroglyph National Monument Leashed pets are welcome throughout many of the areas within Petroglyph National Monument in Albuquerque, NM. The park offers multiple, dog-friendly hiking trails varying in length with ancient petroglyphs etched into the rocks. Dogs can join you as you explore Rinconada Canyon, Piedras Marcadas Canyon, and the Volcanoes Day Use Area. The only areas where dogs are not allowed are the Boca Negra Canyon and inside any public buildings. There is no fee to enter the National Park; there is one trail that has a parking fee, but that trail does not allow dogs. Watch out for snakes and bring plenty of water! See Details
Rockhound State Park Rockhound State Park is set in the rugged slopes of the Little Florida Mountains in Deming, NM. The park features trails, wildflowers, unique geology, and a peaceful campground. Bring Fido to the Spring Canyon unit of the park for a hike and a picnic. Dog owners should clean up after their pet, keep them on a short leash to avoid cacti, and watch out for snakes during snake season. Visitors should check the weather before planning their outing, as it can get very hot. The welcome center has dog bowls on the front patio where Fido can refuel. See Details
Clayton Lake State Park Clayton Lake State Park is a pet-friendly state park in Clayton, NM. It features a 170-acre recreational reservoir and a fossil trackway with dinosaur footprints. You and your pooch can enjoy the rolling grasslands, volcanic rocks, and sandstone bluffs that make up the landscape. The park area was a stopover point for travelers along the Cimarron Cutoff of the Santa Fe Trail. See Details
