Tahoe City Kayak
Dogs are welcome to join you as you take to the water on a Tahoe City Kayak rental in Tahoe City, CA. While rentals are pet friendly, dogs are not allowed in the Tahoe City Kayak building. One dog owner will have to embark with the rental and meet their pooch and rowing partner at the public pier for pickup. Rates and hours vary by rental. Bookings can be made online.

Tahoe Rim Trail
Portions of the Tahoe Rim Trail in Tahoe City, CA, are dog friendly. Regulations vary depending on what segment of the 165-mile long trail you are enjoying. Dogs on the trail should be kept leashed around other trail users, at trailheads, and on steep or slippery terrain. Make sure your dog is also under voice control at all times. The multi-use trail is on the banks of Lake Tahoe and has views of mountain cascades in the distance. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association recommends winter trailhead parking at 64-Acre Park in Tahoe City, Brockway West trailhead, Mt. Rose Summit trailhead, or Kingsbury North trailhead (off North Benjamin Road).

Sand Harbor State Park
Sand Harbor State Park is a pet-friendly recreation area in Incline Village, NV. Located on the lake's eastern shore, this area comprises gently sloping beaches, crystal-clear water, and interesting rock formations. Many people enjoy swimming, scuba diving and generally exploring the water here. Pets are allowed during the off-season from mid-October to mid-April and must be kept on a leash under six feet long. An entry fee into the park does apply.

North Zephyr Cove Beach is a dog-friendly area north of the actual Zephyr Cove Resort in NV. Parking fees may apply, depending on where you leave your car. Note that the park does get crowded on the weekends, so ensure Fido is comfortable around crowds. The shore is rocky, so shoes are recommended to walk in the water.

Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram
Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram in Olympic Valley, CA, is dog friendly during the off-season. When ski season comes to an end, grab your pooch and head to the aerial tram for a beautiful 10-minute ride. There is a charge to ride up the mountain but, if you hike up to high camp (elevation 8200 ft) with Fido, the tram will give you both a ride down for free. The best way to hike up is the Shirley Lake Trail. It's a 3-hour hike with a rest stop at the popular dog-friendly swimming hole, Shirley Lake. The restaurant at the top of the tram also welcomes Fido at the outdoor tables.

Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park
Dogs allowed in developed areas of the pet-friendly Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park in Tahoma, CA. These areas include campsites, paved roads and paths, dirt fire roads, paved parking areas, developed picnic areas and day-use areas, and also the General Creek Fire Road during the summer. You'll discover nearly two miles of lake frontage and dense forests of pine, fir, aspen and juniper. Unfortunately, Fido is not allowed on beaches, unpaved and dirt trails, or in undeveloped areas at the park. To protect the integrity of the groomed Nordic ski courses, dogs not allowed on designated ski trails within the Sierra District, from Nov. 1 to May 1 annually, when snow is present.

Located on top of the Sierra Nevada mountain range along the southeastern shore of Lake Tahoe; this is a destination for dogs and their owners who love the water. Dogs are welcome at pet-friendly Grover Hot Springs State Park in Markleeville, CA. Fido can join you on various trails, the campsite and in the parking lot, but they must be on leash and are not allowed in the hot springs pool complex. In addition to the hot springs, the park is made up of open pine forest, sagebrush and meadows. The park is open all-year-round, but it is recommended that you call the park office to double check on the day you're planning to visit.

Mormon Station State Historic Park is a dog-friendly recreation area in Genoa, NV. The lush lawns and mature trees are what sets this park apart from others in the area. This was the first non-native settlement in Nevada, constructed in 1851, located along the Carson Route of the California Trail. Leashed dogs are welcome to join their owners throughout the outside areas of this park. Note that the hours of the park vary by season.

64-Acres Beach is a pet-friendly area on National Forest land in Tahoe City, CA. Park up in the small parking area on the lake side and hop on the pathway that leads to a pretty picnic area. There are also toilets here for public use. Alternatively, you can take the pathway to the river's edge where canoes, kayaks and rafts can be launched. Leashed dogs are welcome on the beach at this location.

Tahoe City Dog Park is a small, seasonal dog park located just behind Rosies Cafe, next to Conners Field where dogs can run off leash. It's perfect for smaller dogs or if your dogs need a quick car break. There's parking, water, available and trash receptacles are available but you need to bring your own bag. Please note the park closes for the winter after the first snow to protect the grass in the park.
