The area is not for the faint-hearted, however, as it's long been known as a spooky and mysterious place, stretching all the way back to the tumultuous times of Native tribes and early settlers. One of the most popular stories is that of the Pukwedgies, creepy three-foot trolls that wander around bothering visitors, much like Fido. You can explore this stunning and occasionally eerie place on the 50-miles of trails, some of which lead to Profile Rock with a fantastic view of the state's southern coast. Just in case you see a Pukwedgie in their natural habitat, make sure Fido remains on a leash for the duration of their visit and all mess is cleaned up after them.
