Pet Friendly Bering Land Bridge National Preserve
Bering Land Bridge National Preserve Visit the dog-friendly Bering Land Bridge National Preserve in Nome, AK, a site of one of the most well-known stories of migration in human history. It also features the world's largest Maar lakes, roaming caribou and steaming hot springs. Dogs are allowed on the preserve but must be on a leash of six feet or less at all times. The preserve is vast and access is limited as there are no roads leading into it. During the summer months, access to the preserve is by small airplane, boat or foot. Winter access is primarily by bush planes on skis or dog sleds. Once there is adequate snow cover, access can also be made via snowmobile. The visitor center, located in Nome, can provide you with a list of permitted chartered air taxis and also has exhibits about the preserve, films and other interpretive programs. See Details
