Watkins Glen State Park Watkins Glen State Park is a popular dog-friendly recreation area offering hiking and camping in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Glen's stream flows over towering cliffs to create 19 waterfalls within a two mile stretch. Fido is welcome to explore the trails in this park, but dogs must be kept on a leash or in a carrier. Sampson State Park Sampson State Park is dog-friendly and includes 5.5 miles of waterfront, centrally located in New York's Finger Lakes Region. The park has several miles of dog-friendly hiking and biking trails, as well as quiet wooded areas. The campground is also pet-friendly and campsites have electric hookups and are set in a wooded area with easy access to showers and restrooms. The park also has a large marina if your "first" mate wants to bring your boat.

Pets are to be supervised at all times and either be crated or on a leash not more than 6-feet in length. Proof of rabies inoculation shall be produced if requested by staff. Dogs are not permitted in playgrounds, buildings, golf courses, boardwalks, pools and spray-grounds or guarded beaches (this does not apply to service animals).

Finger Lakes Trail The Finger Lakes Trail is a dog-friendly route from the Pennsylvania-New York border in Allegany State Park to the Catskill Forest Preserve. The longest continuous hiking trail in New York State, this trail stretches across 549 miles to the eastern terminus at the junction of the Long Path, and 950 miles to the summit of Slide Mountain. For visitors who find themselves in the Finger Lakes Region, the Erie Canal corridor, or just about anywhere in the Allegheny, Genessee, Susquehannah, or Delaware River watersheds, the Finger Lakes Trail is close by.
