Coal Oil Point Trail

Coal Oil Point Trail is an easy, 1.5 mile hike that will take about 1 hour to complete with Fido. Dogs are allowed on the bluffs and Campus Beach. Be sure to avoid the dunes and other areas where the endangered Snowy Plover is protected, or you could face a large fine.

Oceanfront Trail

Knapp's Castle Trail

Knapp's Castle Trail is an easy, 0.93 mile hike in Los Padres National Forest that will take about 1 hour to complete with Fido. This quick hike offers spectacular views of the coast, Channel Islands, Santa Rosa, San Miguel, Santa Cruz and Anacapa.

Hale Park

Bring your pet to play off-leash at this lovely Santa Barbara park, which includes walking trails and plenty of trees. Remember to bring water and keep pets leashed in parking lot.

Aliso Trail

Aliso Trail is a moderately easy, 3.25 mile hike in Los Padres National Forest that will take about 1.5 hours to complete with Fido. This is a fantastic hike to take in the Spring or Fall when temperatures are moderate. The trail will provide a pleasantly vigorous hike with steep canyons and hills along the way.

Refugio State Beach to El Capitan State Beach Trail

This is an easy, 5.4 mile hike that will take about 2 hours to complete with Fido. Dogs are not allowed on the beach in this area, but the entire paved stretch between El Capitan and Refugio Beaches is fair game. The path is open to bikers, walkers, and joggers and provides a spectacular view of the Ocean. Leash regulations do apply.

Santa Barbara Botanical Gardens

You'll love exploring this gorgeous botanical garden, and you're welcome to bring your pet along as long as they remain on-leash. The garden also host Trails 'n' Tails Day each year on National Dog Day. On this special day, visitors bringing leashed dogs get free admission to the garden and there are many dog-centric activities including a pooch parade, pet photo contest, and dog-friendly vendors and organizations booths.
