LaPine State Park LaPine State Park is a scenic dog-friendly area situated on the Upper Deschutes River in La Pine, OR. A quiet, shaded campground connects to over fourteen miles of multi-use trails. This centrally located park also provides access to Deschutes National Forest, Newberry Crater and Lava River Cave. Head to the "Big Tree" day-use area to marvel at Oregon's largest Ponderosa Pine tree which is thought to be 500 years old. Enjoy year-round camping or cozy up in one of five pet-friendly log cabins. Dogs are welcome to join their owners on the trek to the double falls, as long as they are leashed. There is an accessible trail to its picnic sites and an overlook; however, parking at this site requires a recreation pass, which can't be purchased on site. Peter Skene Ogden Trail Peter Skene Ogden Trail is a pet-friendly path in La Pine, OR. It's a moderately easy, 9.5-mile hike that will take about 6 hours to complete with Fido. If you enjoy the sound of flowing water, than you will love this hike that follows Paulina Creek to Paulina Lake passing waterfalls along the way. Mountain bikers are only allowed to ride this trail uphill, and although horses can use the hill in both directions they have a separate parallel trail. Please note that a Northwest Forest Pass is required. The trail starts at the Ogden Group Camp in Newberry National Volcanic Monument, just north of La Pine. See Details

It's a moderately easy, 8.1-mile hike that will take about 4 hours to complete with Fido. Start out at the Thorn Prairie trailhead and descend into the forest where you will meet up with the main North Umpqua Trail.
