This trail is on the north side of the lake and will actually lead you to the backside of the mountain where water views disappear. However, losing the view of the water is worth the peace, quiet, and open vistas that take its place. This area is subject to closure due to habitat protection. Since this trailhead is within the bald eagle habitat, it's closed during the nesting season from winter to spring, sometimes extending into summer.

The trail starts off HWY 38 about .2 miles west of Stanfield Cutoff and is well marked and has plenty of parking at the trailhead. Leashed dogs are allowed. An Adventure Pass or Interagency Pass is required for use of the amenities at the trailhead parking area.

Lake Gregory Regional Park
Lake Gregory Regional Park is a dog-friendly recreational area located in the San Bernardino Mountains of Crestline, CA. In the summer, you can rent paddleboards, rowboats, paddleboats, sailboats, and water cycles. Outside of the swimming area, anglers will find excellent fishing for trout, catfish and bass. The real fun is the 2.7-mile fitness trail featuring exercise stations along the scenic path around the lake. Dogs must be leashed when visiting the park unless visiting one of the dog parks on the property. Please note that dogs are not allowed on the beach, at events, or in any of the gated areas.

There are two springs on this trail, but you will want to bring extra water along and check your dogs paws often.

The Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary is home to the City of Arcata’s innovative wastewater treatment facility. The dog-friendly sanctuary is 307 acres, including freshwater marshes, salt marsh, tidal sloughs, grassy uplands, mudflats, brackish marsh, approximately 5 miles of walking and biking paths and an Interpretive Center.
