Fire Island Lighthouse Bring Fido to the Fire Island Lighthouse. Hike from Robert Moses State Park parking field #5; there are also paths from the Lighthouse to the oceanfront and Fire Island. Dogs aren't permitted in the actual lighthouse at any time, or oceanside beaches and the Fireside Wilderness from March 15 through Labor Day. This trail provides a wonderful opportunity for your pup to enjoy the sandy beach and waves in the off season, from Labor Day through March 15. DUE TO DAMAGE from Hurricane Sandy you can no longer use the ferry to make the loop. Another section of the trail may be inaccessible please call first. This 7 mile hike can be done end to end utilizing the ferry until the end of October. After the ferry stops for the season it becomes a 14 mile out and back trip. See Details
