Croft State Park Once an army training base, pet-friendly Croft State Park covers more than 7,000 acres of rolling, wooded terrain just a few miles from downtown Spartanburg, SC. The recreation space offers 12 miles of biking and hiking trails, a playground, picnicking and camping, as well as fishing and boating in one of two lakes. Cottonwood Trail The Cottonwood Trail is dog friendly and part of the Edwin M. Griffin Nature preserve, located minutes from downtown Spartanburg, SC. The property protects a 1.5 mile stretch of Lawson’s Fork Creek and several feeder streams. Over 5 miles of trails offer runners, naturalists, and dog walkers a break from city traffic. It provides a place for citizens to run, walk, kayak, canoe, and to enjoy other recreational outings. This urban greenspace has many unique and outstanding features including several wetlands, open spaces, geological formations, and offers habitat for deer, wild turkey, fox, numerous birds and reptiles, wildflowers, and trees. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Spartanburg!
