Bring Fido to visit one of the most famous lighthouses in Maine to enjoy scenic views of the coast and walk the paved trails. Popham Beach State Park Popham Beach State Park in Phippsburg, ME is dog-friendly from October 1st through March 31st. During this off-season period, leashed dogs can enjoy the luscious sandy beach that stretches along the mouth of the Kennebec River. There are also plenty of pretty picnic spots with charcoal grills, many of which overlook the water. Dogs are permitted in campgrounds, with the exception of Sebago Lake State Park Campground. Please leash and clean up after your pets when in the park. Please note that pet owners may be assigned picnic or campsites in a less congested area of the park. See Details
Hinckley Park Hinckley Park is a pet-friendly 40-acre recreation area in South Portland, ME. Dogs must be leashed between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM year-round. The park includes two scenic ponds surrounded by a 3/4 mile walking trail and additional wooded trails nearby to explore. See Details
Marginal Way Walkway Leashed dogs are welcome at the Marginal Way Walkway from October 1 to March 31 in Ogunquit, ME. This pet-friendly trail is a great spot to enjoy a scenic 1.5-mile stroll along the coast with Fido during the off season. Dogs are not allowed from April 1 to September 30. Reid State Park Reid State Park is a dog-friendly area in Georgetown, ME. This popular park has beautiful white sandy beaches, but Fido is only permitted on State Park beaches in Maine from October 1st to March 31st. When you visit Griffith Head in the park, you'll discover a rocky headland that overlooks the rest of the park and a number of seascapes. There are lighthouses in the area as well, including on Sequin Island and Hendricks Head. You can bring Fido with you around the park if they are on a leash under six feet, as long as you clean up any mess after them. See Details

Range Pond State Park Dogs are allowed to join their owners at Range Pond State Park in Poland, ME. This pet-friendly recreation area is located along the northeast shore of beautiful Lower Range Pond. There are a couple of pet-friendly trails that weave around the park as well, including Old Fields Trail that loops through the pine forest at Range Pond and the Railroad Trail that leads through old logging roads and railroad beds, with just one short hill. Established in 1898, this lighthouse on the Kennebec River features a scenic trail that is well worth a visit with your leashed pup. Nahmakanta Public Land Nahmakanta Public Land is a pet-friendly wooded preserve on 43,000 acres near Brownville, ME. Hikers, campers, hunters, fishermen, snowmobilers and paddlers all enjoy the rugged hills, abundant wildlife and clear waters of this remote region southwest of Baxter State Park. Explore 24 "great ponds" (10 or more acres in size) and more than 50 miles of undeveloped shoreline. Mountain Division Trail The Mountain Division Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk Fido in Windham! The map below shows a parking area with convenient access to the Mountain Division Trail.
