Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is less than a 30-minute drive from the strip in Las Vegas. Leashed pets are allowed on dog-friendly trails. Owners are required to clean up after their dogs. Baggies for waste disposal are available in the campground and at the Scenic Drive fee station. Fido must be leashed at all times in the campground areas, and at other developed facilities such as the visitor center, Willow Springs picnic area and Red Rock overlook. Due to the extreme temperatures in the Canyon, pet owners should never leave their pets unattended inside their vehicles, and you should bring plenty of water for your pet as well. There is a fee per vehicle to enter.

The dog-friendly Valley of Fire State Park is located in the Mojave Desert of Overton, NC, about 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The pet-friendly park lies in a basin 4 miles wide by 6 miles long, 15 miles southwest of Overton, Nevada. Its elevation varies between 2,000 and 2,600 feet. You'll see petrified trees dating back more than 2,000 years! Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash of not more than six feet in length. They are not allowed in the Visitor Centers.

One of the most popular hikes from November is the Bristlecone Trail, perfect for sledding, snowman building, and playing fetch with snowballs. The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area offers opportunities for year-round fun.

Dogs are welcome to join their owners, as long as they are on a leash and all mess is cleaned up after them. The opening times of this area vary depending on the time of year. There is an entrance fee. Check the website for seasonal opening dates.

The park features picnic tables, an ADA-accessible fishing pier, a river ramp for non-motorized watercraft, decomposed granite walking paths, a trailhead parking lot and enclosed portable toilets.

Cathedral Rock Trail is pet-friendly. At nearly three miles, this out-and-back trail is rated moderate as it can get a little steep at times. Bring your leashed pooch with you to wander up from Mazie Canyon, enjoying wildflowers and butterflies during the spring. You can pause for a moment at the waterfall around halfway up the pathway which has an old road leading to it. The trail climbs a few short, steep switchbacks before reaching the summit, with a spectacular view of Kyle Canyon. Be careful of wintery hikes as this spot is a major avalanche zone and clean up any mess that is left behind.

This pathway is approximately 34 miles in length and surrounds the River Mountains connecting Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Hoover Dam, Henderson, Boulder City and the rest of the Las Vegas Valley. Locals suggest postponing hikes until the early evening, or getting up early to hike during the hotter months.
