There's a maximum of two pets allowed in campsites and day-use areas. Pets are to be supervised and on a leash under six feet in length and are not permitted in playgrounds, buildings, golf courses, boardwalks, pools, spray grounds or guarded beaches.

Eternal Flame Falls
Eternal Flame Falls is a dog-friendly hiking trail that will bring you to two cascades. One waterfall is 30 feet tall and the top cascade is 8 feet tall. A small opening within the shale reveals a natural gas vent that is normally ablaze (it does have to be reignited occasionally). Early spring is the best time to visit, as the creek is typically dry in warm weather. Allot an hour or more to for a round-trip hike. This can be a dangerous trail, so bring Fido only if you both are skilled hikers. Admission is free.

Newtown Battlefield State Park is a pet-friendly recreation area in Elmira, NY. Located just uphill from the Lackawanna Rail Trail, it feels so removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. Be sure to keep Fido on a leash and wear orange during hunting season because it is permitted in the park.
