Grasslands National Park Dogs are welcome at Grasslands National Park, where there are plenty of pet-friendly trails for you and Fido to check out. The park is made up of vast open prairies that create a canvas for a stunningly huge blue sky during the day and a twinkling masterpiece at night, ideal for stargazers. The 70 Mile Butte is the highest point in the park that gives you a great view of the whole park. The best time for you and Fido to check it out is early in the morning or near dusk for sunrise and sunset. Grasslands National Park is open every day of the week from 9:00am to 4:30pm. See Details
Fort Walsh National Historic Site Fort Walsh National Historic Site is dog-friendly. Technically, it's part of Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park and is also the site of the Cypress Hills Massacre. This working fort will take you back to the 1870s, where whiskey runners once roamed, and to a Canadian period dealing with the aftermath of the Battle of Little Big Horn. Pet owners should be warned that there will be loud bangs at certain times as reenactments and parades take place. Fort Walsh National Historic Site is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm. The Conservation area features large sandy beaches and a wheelchair accessible trail leading to a valley lookout. Dogs must be leashed for the entirety of their visit.
