Posted by Billy Francis

Even though pet adoptions have been on the rise, there are still thousands of pups waiting to find forever homes. These adorable adoptable dogs are available this month at different shelters and rescues across the country.

Flower is a large dog with an even bigger heart who is currently residing with Detroit Dog Rescue. Weighing in at 60 lbs, this 7-year-old had a rough start to life but is ready to begin a new chapter. Flower came to Detroit Dog Rescue in 2018 as part of a large cruelty case with 16 other dogs. She’s the only one still waiting to find her forever home. Due to Flower’s severe neglect earlier in life, she’s not suited for a family with children, cats or other dogs, and does require a special diet.

When you’ve signed on the dotted line, let Flower bloom at Statler Maloof Bark Park at Brys Park.

Who wants to plant a new life for Flower? Find her information here. Adoption fees are $250.

Focused on raising awareness for Detroit’s homeless and stray dog population, and advocating for humane rescue alternatives, Detroit Dog Rescue is Motor City’s first no-kill shelter.

Joy, also known as JoJo, is sure to bring happiness into your home if you give her the chance. Rescued from a property with more than 20 dogs and relocated to Dog Gone Seattle in 2020, this Great Pyrenees Mix thought she had found her forever home last year. Unfortunately, the adopting family’s tiny pooch had other ideas and bullied poor JoJo so much she had to be returned. Her current fosters report that she’s a wonderful dog who loves playing with their resident pups. They also think she’d live her best life in a home with a fenced yard and with no small critters.

Take your newfound friend to one of Washington’s best-loved canine hangouts, Warren G. Magnuson Park Off-Leash Dog Area.

If you want to bring this cute pooch home, go here. Adoption fees are $500.

Dog Gone Seattle’s motto is to “Rescue, Respect, Repeat.” They stick to this mantra by saving homeless dogs in high-kill shelters in Washington and beyond through rescue, foster and adoption.

“Senior sisters!” Photo by Safe Animal Shelter

The only thing more rewarding than taking one pooch home is giving two lovable pups a forever home. Mindy & Little Bit come as a cuddly senior package from SAFE Animal Shelter in Clay County, FL. Unfortunately, their mother was no longer able to care for them. These adorable short-coat Chihuahuas are both under 5 lbs, are house-trained, and will keep you and your family entertained for hours with antics like playing possum.

Drive into Jacksonville with this perfect pair and play in the small dog section at Dog Wood Park.

Information on adopting Mindy can be found here and Little Bit here.

Safe Animal Shelter is a nonprofit organization aiming to reduce the number of cats and dogs euthanized in Northeast Florida and the surrounding areas. Clay County’s first no-kill shelter provides temporary homes for animals waiting to find a permanent residence.

Yogi will help the whole pack feel a sense of calm with his pleasant demeanor. This large pooch at Wayside Waifs in Kansas City, MO, loves to play, exercise and learn new tricks. He would prefer a home with parents who are willing to put in the time to keep him mentally stimulated. When Yogi falls in love, he falls hard and will be a constant presence by your side while you live together happily ever after. If you already have other dogs, Yogi would love to meet them outside first to check if the vibe is right.

You don’t have to travel far to teach your new pooch some tricks. Wayside Waifs Bark Park is attached to the shelter and is equipped with agility equipment to keep him entertained.

Yogi is ready to practice his downward dog by your side here. Adoption fees are $130.

Established in 1940 and renamed Wayside Waifs four years later, this historic organization is home to a dog park, shelter, pet cemetery and more. Committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets, Wayside is the largest no-kill pet adoption campus in Kansas City, finding homes for approximately 5,400 animals every year.

“Charles phone home?” Photo by Wags & Walks

Charles is an 18-month-old Pit Bull mix who’s currently chilling with his pals at Wags & Walks in LA. He’s a sweet boy who loves other pups and humans, but can take a little time to warm up to new faces. Once you win him over, he’ll melt your heart with his warm personality and cuddles. Charles is a water dog with a real passion for playing with hoses. He’s crate-trained and has even completed a training course to become a “pawfect” gentleman.

While you’re both in LA, explore sandy stretches of the California Coastal Trail with your new best friend.

Give Charles his forever home here, and you can even watch him on a walk. Adoption fees are $450.

Founded in 2011 by the daughter of a veterinarian, Wag & Walks aims to lower the devastating number of euthanized dogs in Los Angeles. Dedicated team members drive hundreds of miles every week to ensure as many awesome dogs as possible are rescued and re-homed.

Willamina is a 7-year-old Chow Chow living at Community Animal Rescue and Adoption in Jackson, MS, who would love to be your new cuddle buddy. She’s not great with small dogs, critters or cats, but gets along with everybody else. When she’s outside, she needs to be watched or she may end up on a digging spree.

Located next door, Brees Bark Park is a great place to stretch your pup’s legs before heading home.

If you want to give Willamina a new home, go here. Adoption fees start at $100.

Community Animal Rescue and Adoption is dedicated to saving dogs and cats who need loving homes in and around Jackson. They also provide low-cost spay/neuter options and educate the local community on pet healthcare and responsible ownership.

“It truly is bliss to know I’m coming home with you!” Photo by Three Little Pitties Rescue

Bliss would be elated to become your best friend. Three Little Pitties Rescue in Friendswood, TX, has been happy to house this gorgeous Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog mix, but she’s ready to find her forever home. Sadly, this adorable pup was born completely deaf and with a deformed left eye, so she may take a little longer than other puppies to train. She loves to snuggle and can’t wait to meet you.

Cool off with Bliss in the splash pads at nearby Friendswood PetSafe Dog Park.

Add a little Bliss to your life here. Adoption fees are $650.

Three Little Pitties Rescue saves dogs and cats from the streets and overcrowded shelters in Texas, and transports them to shelters around the Pacific Northwest, where there are less stray dogs.
