Best Dog-Friendly Brewery

From bold barrel-aged stouts to funky farmhouse ales, Prairie Artisan Ales OKC in Oklahoma City is a dog-friendly brewery that aims to please all palates. Sip on a favorite like Bomb!, Standard or Prairie Vous Francais, or try a new inspiring beer on tap instead. The best dog-friendly brewery in the Sooner State is known for wrapping six packs in expressive art to tell the story inside each and every can that you take home. When lunchtime arrives, take an urban hike to one of Oklahoma City’s pet-friendly restaurants, then play with local pups at Myriad Botanical Gardens Dog Park.

The pet-friendly Skirvin Hilton Oklahoma City is just a 15-minute walk from the brewery.

Most Dog-Friendly State Park

With its pristine lakes and rivers surrounded by towering pine trees, the most dog-friendly state park in Oklahoma, Beavers Bend State Park, is a beautiful place to adventure with your pooch. Experienced trekkers can tackle the six-mile Skyline Trail or the more challenging David Boren Trail, while casual hikers can choose from several shorter trails. Water-loving dogs will prefer to rent a kayak or canoe and take on the Class I-II rapids on the Mountain Fork River or take a dip in Broken Bow Lake. The Mountain Fork River is stocked with trout on a weekly basis, so fishermen will definitely want to bring their gear along!

For those looking to stay overnight in the park, Beavers Bend Resort Park offers a number of pet-friendly cabin rentals. For travelers interested in more refined accommodations, this Heaven Sent Cabin boasts a hot tub, fireplace, and bbq grill on the deck.

Most Dog-Friendly Attraction

The most dog-friendly attraction in Oklahoma, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in Indiahoma offers visitors the chance to see the habitat of 50 species of mammals, 64 species of reptiles, and 240 species of birds. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has been protecting just under 60,000 acres here since 1901, making it the oldest protected wildlife area in the network. Leashed dogs are welcome to join their owners on a variety of trails within the refuge, ranging from the easier hike at Wichita Mountains Forty-Foot Hole to the moderate Bison Trail. If your dog prefers a car to do the hard work, take him on a scenic drive through the refuge on Wichita Mountains Scenic Byway instead.

Located next to the Lawtonka Trails, the Wichita Mod Lodge is a great hub for outbound hounds who want to continue exploring the backcountry. Enjoy breakfast on the wraparound porch and a debrief around the fire pit when the sun sets.

Most Dog-Friendly Campground

When you’re traveling cross-country on Interstate 40, stop and rest a while at Wanderlust Crossings RV Park in Weatherford. The owners of this most dog-friendly campground in the Sooner State love dogs and it shows. There are several enclosed, grass pet exercise areas, a state-of-the-art pet wash station with shampoo, rinse and blowdry capabilities, an on-site dog groomer, and a gift shop that features handmade items from Etsy including pet beds, collars, belly bands, and essential oil sprays. Of course there are plenty of features for humans, too, like large, paved RV sites with lush grass areas, fire pits, and beautiful landscaping and water features throughout. Dogs of any size are welcome for no additional fee.

Five acres of fun await you and your pooch at Edmond Dog Park at Bickham-Rudkin Park in Edmond. The Sooner State’s premier paw park is divided into separate sections for small and large dogs, both with shady trees, agility equipment, and benches where humans can relax while pups play. Dogs are also free to swim in the shallow lake from safe access points along the shore.

Four-legged guests can sprawl out in the spacious pet-friendly rooms at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Oklahoma City North and go for a stroll on the grass that surrounds the hotel.

Top Trail to Hike With Your Dog

Friends Trail Loop in Beavers Bend State Park should be renamed “Best Friends Trail Loop” thanks to its popularity among dogs and their owners. This well-maintained walkway through the woods and alongside a creek leads to views of a waterfall and rock formations. Beginning at Spillway Creek below the dam, hikers can climb steep hills to get a good vantage point of the water. Friends Trail Loop is 1.5 miles long and rated moderate due to the incline. For an easy hike in the park, take the Tree Trail to a Native American sculpture.

There’s no need to travel far to get a good night’s sleep. Book a pet-friendly cabin at Beavers Bend Resort Park and hit the trails again in the morning.

Human guests can devour a free country-style breakfast each morning, while pups chill in the room and relax. After breakfast, take a tour around 15 acres of private land together with trails for walking and a pond to cool off in.
