Pluto and Goofy aren’t the only dogs enjoying Walt Disney World these days. Furry friends will have a magical time at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The on-site Waggin’ Trails Dog Park allows pets to play off leash, meet fellow campers and test their skills on agility equipment while their humans supervise from shaded benches. During his stay, Fido will receive a Pluto’s Welcome Kit with a mat, bowls, pet ID, waste bags, puppy pads, and a map of the many dog-friendly paved and grassy walking trails in the area. Daycare is also available at nearby Best Friends Pet Care for an additional fee, so you and your family can enjoy time together in the Disney parks.

If the name alone isn’t enough to spark his interest, the list of dog amenities is sure to make Fido raise his ears and tilt his head. Four Paws Kingdom Campground in Rutherfordton is the first and only campground dedicated solely to canines and their adult humans (two-legged guests must be 18 years or older). When your pooch is ready to play, he can pick from the Small Dog Playground, Tiny Tot Park, The Big Yard or Private Escape. Dogs will also love splashing in the fully fenced pond, hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, racing on the agility course, or having a spa day in the self-service grooming salon. Some sites even have fenced yards, allowing you to rest with your pup at your campsite.

Four Paws Kingdom Campground welcomes up to four dogs at each site, depending on their size. Bring your own RV or stay in one of Four Paws’ rental RVs, cabins or yurts. Nightly rates start at $64.

Experience the beauty of New England at Normandy Farms Campground, a luxury camping experience created for humans and dogs alike. Fido will have a ball in the 1.5-acre Freedom Tail Park, a fully fenced area with agility equipment, dog wash and drinking fountain. There’s even a separate area for smaller pups to play safely. When it’s time for the kids to splash in the pool, drop your pooch off at the Canine Coops day kennel, or make a reservation for a campground employee to take him for a walk.

Pets are permitted in your own tent or RV for no additional fee, and two pets of any size are allowed in select campground rentals for an additional fee of $15 per pet, per night. There are additional fees for kennel and walking services. Nightly rates start at $37.

Reserve a campsite, yurt, or cabin at Catherine’s Landing and let Fido run wild in one of two gated off-leash Bark Parks. Catherine’s Landing is nestled on 400 pastoral acres with a mile of water frontage on Lake Catherine, creating endless fun for your four-legged camper. After making friends in the dog park and exploring nearby trails, stop by the dog wash station to clean up before heading back to your campsite. When you’re ready to explore beyond the campsite, Hot Springs National Park and Garvan Woodland Gardens are just a short distance away.

Lake George RV Park is home to Charlie’s Dog Park, a 2-acre fenced park with divided sections for small and large dogs. Your pooch will be dog-tired after a day of romping with pals on the large synthetic turf play area, splashing in the fire hydrant spray fountain, or accompanying you off leash on the shaded walking trails. He can also practice hoop jumping and other tricks on the 15-event agility course. Within the park there are waste stations, dog water fountains and even a treat vending machine where you can purchase snacks, bones and toys for your good boy or girl. Charlie’s Dog Park is open from dawn to dusk, but you’ll want to allow time at the end of the day for a bath and groom at the indoor dog wash station.

Lake George RV Park permits six pets per site for no additional fee if you bring your own RV, and two pets per site for no additional fee if you rent one of their pet-friendly RVs. Nightly rates start at $89.

Travel back in time with a stay in one of nine vintage Shasta Airflyte campers at The Vintages Trailer Resort in the middle of Willamette Wine Country. Four-legged guests receive a tennis ball at check-in for daily games of fetch in the fenced-in dog park. Treats, a plush dog toy, waste bags, and water and food bowls for use during your stay are also provided. Pups are welcome to join their owners around the communal fire pit as well.

Beneath the towering pines along the New Hampshire coast, Wakeda Campground welcomes both dogs and their human families for an escape to the quiet wilderness. The on-site Mike Hambleton Memorial Dog Park is a highlight for furry campers. Fido can tackle an agility course, enjoy the fire hydrant and water fountain, and park his human on one of many benches while he plays. Don’t worry, humans can have their own fun on the 18-hole miniature golf course.

Wakeda Campground is open from May 15 to October 1. Three pets of any size are allowed at tent sites, RVs or pet-friendly cabins for no additional fee. Nightly rates start at $45.

Fido can run to his heart’s content in the 3-acre fenced dog park at Flag City RV Park in the Sacramento Valley. The spacious grassy area is one of the largest dog parks in California. Flag City RV Park is just minutes from Lake Lodi and the Sacramento River Delta, as well as California wine country. During your stay, schedule a morning kayak or paddleboard trip with your pup followed by wine tasting in the afternoon with Happy Tails Canine Adventure Tours.

At Holly Shores Camping Resort in Cape May, Fido can mingle with other pups and burn off energy at the on-site fenced dog park. There’s plenty of grass and room to roam, as well as shaded benches for humans along the perimeter. While you’re here, don’t miss the 15-minute drive to Wildwood Dog Beach. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Gloucester Point offers fun for the entire family, including Fido. Let him run off leash in the Bark Park, a large fenced area featuring an agility course complete with a dog bone jump, tire jump, wait table, A-frame ramp, and walk & weave posts. Visit the rolling hills of western North Carolina with Fido and stay in a vintage trailer, glamping pod, treehouse, yurt or your own tent or RV at Emberglow Outdoor Resort. Nestled on 72 acres just 15 minutes from beautiful Lake Lure, pups will enjoy miles of hiking trails and their own fenced-in dog park for off-leash fun. Human amenities include a resort-quality pool, community fire pit, playground and sports fields. While you’re exploring the area, visit Chimney Rock State Park and take a cruise on the water with Lake Lure Adventure Company.

Just two hours from the Twin Cities, Crow Wing Lake Campground is situated on 30 wooded acres on the shores of Crow Wing Lake. Fido can play off leash in the fenced pet park and test his skills on the agility equipment, or join you for a paddle around the lake on one of the campground’s rentable kayaks or paddleboards. After a fun-filled day, stop by the pet washing and drying station to get cleaned up. Bring your own dog shampoo, or pick some up in the camp store.

Nestled among the tall Georgia pines and just an hour from downtown Atlanta, Pine Mountain RV Resort is an ideal countryside getaway. Let Fido socialize with other four-legged campers in two separate enclosed Bark Parks, allowing easy access from any campsite. For more exercise, take him for a hike along the 23-mile Pine Mountain Trail, which meanders by quiet streams, waterfalls and native trees in F.D. Roosevelt State Park. If you don’t have your own RV, reserve one of three pet-friendly yurts.

Kampgrounds of America is a “pawsome” choice anytime you’re looking for a pet-friendly campground in the U.S. The majority of sites have Kamp K9 dog parks where your pup can stretch her legs with other canine campers. Some Kamp K9s, like those at Delaware Water Gap Pocono Mountain KOA and KOA Sault Ste. Marie, have agility equipment. Other features at select locations include pet waste stations, fresh drinking water and separate areas for large and small dogs.

KOAs welcome dogs at most tent and RV sites and in some cabins, yurts and other unique accommodations at their nearly 500 locations across North America. Rates vary at each KOA, but pets always stay for no additional fee.
