Where to Celebrate Christmas in July With Your Dog

Posted by Jessica Roberts

Does your canine companion love Christmas? Of course he does. Did you know that you don’t have to wait until December to celebrate with him? Every year, bonus Christmas parties are hosted around the world right in the heart (and heat) of summer. Whether you can’t wait for winter or just want to get in the holiday spirit early this year, these dog-friendly Christmas in July events will have you and your best bud barking to Jingle Bells!

Christmas in July at the Village at Wexford

Hilton Head Island, SC
All dressed up in our Christmas finest.

Imagine watermelon Christmas trees, flamingos in Santa hats and snowmen made of sand. The Village at Wexford is making all of Fido’s holiday dreams come true with their beach-themed Christmas in July at the outdoor Farmers’ Market. The weekly market will be transformed into a festive yuletide village featuring holiday-themed food, entertainment, activities and shopping! Make sure your pup gets a one-on-one with “Sand-a Claus” in his swim trunks and stop by Tail Wiggles for “Fido Fries,” the homemade treats at the top of many a dog’s Christmas wish list.

Christmas in July at the Village at Wexford will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free to attend.

The World Santa Claus Congress

If Fido is itching to get on Santa’s Good List early this year, you might want to plan a trip to the World Santa Claus Congress. Every year, Santas, Mrs. Clauses and elves from around the globe convene in Denmark for a Christmas in July event full of merriment and cheer. Held 10 miles north of Copenhagen at Bakken, the world’s oldest amusement park, the WSCC lasts four days and includes scheduled activities like galas, parades, boat rides and (our personal favorite) the annual Santa Footbath in the Baltic Sea. Dogs are permitted year round at Bakken as long as they remain on leash, and they’re welcome at all WSCC events taking place in the park.

The World Santa Claus Congress takes place at Bakken in Klampenborg, Denmark. The 2019 programs start at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 22 and are scheduled through 10 p.m. on Thursday, July 25. Admission is free.

Christmas in July at Railroad Brewing Company

Avon, OH
Christmas Day is in our grasp. So long as we have hands (and paws) to clasp.

Maybe a midsummer visit with Santa Paws won’t convince your pup to get off the Naughty List this year. Instead, take him to meet the Grinch at Christmas in July at Railroad Brewing Company. Your heart will grow three sizes knowing that your participation supports Mutts in a Rut Rescue and its mission to help dogs from overpopulated shelters in the Cleveland area find forever homes. Get yourself a cold beer and sign up to win raffle prizes that will make Fido's day feel just like Christmas morning.

Christmas in July at Railroad Brewing Company takes place on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

If you just can’t wait to bust out Fido’s ugly Christmas sweater, the always dog-friendly San Diego Padres have good news for you. The Padres play at Petco Park, where furry ballers are welcome to view games from The Barkyard. It's one of the most pet-friendly baseball stadiums in the country, and this summer it's inviting two- and four-legged fans to a Christmas in July theme game. Santa will throw out the first pitch and will be available for a Fido-and-Father-Christmas photo op. Theme game packages include a limited-edition ugly sweater-themed Padres hat for humans.

Christmas in July With the Padres will be held when the Padres take on the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, July 29 at 7 p.m. Pricing for seats in the Barkyard starts at $114 for four people and two dogs. Visit the Padres website for additional information or to purchase tickets.

You and Fido are cordially invited to join the The Fur Ball Society’s first annual Christmas in July. St. Nick might not have any presents to hand out but he will be available to take pictures with the pooches. The merrymaking will include a cookout for humans and dogs (with vegan options included) and games where Fido can compete for prizes.

The Fur Ball Society's Christmas in July Ball will be held at 2789 Washtenaw Road in Ypsilanti, MI on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 per person and dog duo.

Someone at Thomas Creek Brewery must have a direct connection to Mr. Claus because Santa himself texted them to say he’d be stopping by their Christmas in July bash. Each year, the brewpub hosts local artists and vendors for a midsummer Christmas celebration, so you can treat yourself to a cold craft beer and maybe even pick up an early Christmas gift for Fido. The brewery is always open to dogs, both inside and in the outdoor seating area.

Christmas in July at Thomas Creek Brewery will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
