Ways to Celebrate Dog Dads This Father’s Day

Posted by Erin Ballinger

Dog dads do so much for their four-legged children. This Father’s Day, show your love and appreciation for the dog dad in your life by spending some quality time together with man’s best friend. Here are five ways to show dad how much he means to his two- and four-legged family.

1. Play 18 Holes With Your Hound

Your dad might not even realize that he can play a round of golf with his best friend by his side. This year, give Pops and his pup a special treat by inviting him to hit the links at a pet-friendly golf course. Belgrade Lakes Golf Club in Belgrade Lakes, ME, Discovery Bay Golf Course in Port Townsend, WA, and Agate Beach Golf Course in Newport, OR are three of our favorites. These public courses are located in pristine natural settings that promise a beautiful day out on the greens. If you make it a competitive game, plan ahead and teach Fido to fetch your opponent's balls!

2. Grrrill Out With Dad

Treat the man of honor to a laid-back family cookout at home. Throw some meat on the grill, put a frosty beverage in Dad’s hand, and let him feel the love. Add grilled sweet potatoes and asparagus alongside some fresh cantaloupe and watermelon to round out his Father’s Day feast. Don't forget to fire up an unseasoned patty for your furry friend to share in the meal.

If Dad is the king of the grill, equip him with the right gear for the job. Nothing says "dog dad at work" like this apron, which you can customize with the pup of your choice. If you really want him to cook like a boss (of dogs), this paw brand will put just the right finishing touch on his steak.

3. Give Back at a Dog-Friendly Charity Event With Dad

What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than by attending a dog-friendly charity event? Invite him to the Dog Dad’s Day Brunch in Chicago, IL which benefits PAWWS - Paws Assisting Wounded Warriors or Wags N Wine, benefitting Waggin' Trails Rescue Foundation in Huntington Beach, CA. If Dad doesn't mind looking silly for a good cause, sign him and his best friend up for the Portland Undy RunWalk, which benefits the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. And who wants to miss theBoston Tea Pawty, which benefits PAWS New England?

Check outour events section to find local hound-friendly happenings near you, and enjoy celebrating a dog-friendly Father's Day!
