Take the pet-friendly Madeline Island Ferry to one of Wisconsin’s more unusual establishments, Tom’s Burned Down Cafe. Located a block from the coastline of Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes, the quirky spot grew like a phoenix from the flames. Just after the original cafe burned down, a truck carrying beer arrived, and Tom decided there was no point in waiting around to rebuild the place. He opened for business right away, and the rest is history. Nowadays, the makeshift cafe is full of sculptures, repurposed items and oddities that will keep you and your pooch coming back for more.

Barge Bay welcomes furry beach bums to stay on Madeline Island.
