Hotel del Coronado

Book Room 3312 at the Hotel del Coronado if you dare! The room is reportedly haunted by the ghost of heartbroken Kate Morgan, who never checked out after a fight with her lover. Her lifeless body was found on the hotel steps due to an apparent suicide in 1892, and since then guests staying in Room 3312 have reported seeing an apparition of The Beautiful Stranger dressed in a long black lace dress. Other paranormal activity includes strange sounds, flickering lights, the TV turning on and off, supernatural breezes and abrupt changes in the room temperature. Learn more about Kate Morgan and other ghostly guest encounters at the hotel during the dog-friendly Haunted Happenings Tour.

If you and your canine companion aren’t in the mood for tricks, book any other room at “The Del” and your pup will just get treats. The hotel has a gourmet room service menu designed for its furry guests, provides food and water bowls, and even hosts a Yappy Hour every Sunday from 4-5 p.m. with complimentary water and organic "yappetizers" for your pooch! And if that's not enough, The Del is also close to one of the best dog beaches on the west coast. Hotel del Coronado welcomes two dogs up to 40 pounds for an additional fee of $125 per stay or $200 per stay in Beach Village at the Del accommodations.

1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa

Eureka Springs, AR

Located a short scurry down the foggy lanes from downtown Eureka Springs, AR, the 1886 Crescent Hotel and Spa is said to be one of the most haunted hotels in the world. The building once housed a “cancer curing hospital.” Unfortunately, the hospital was responsible for false hope and worse thanks to a useless cure of watermelon seed, brown corn silk, alcohol, and carbolic acid developed by known charlatan Norman Baker. Mediums suggest that the current hotel may house a portal to the “other side” where the former hospital’s morgue used to be. As long as he’s not a traveling snake oil salesman, Fido should get along well with the area’s poltergeist population. He might act the tough pup when it comes to the “Girl in the Mist” or the “Ghostly Lady in Room 3500,” but can he handle the fur-raising specter of an orange tabby in the lobby? Morris showed up at the hotel in 1973 and decided never to leave, even after he died. His headstone can be found in the East Lawn area, but it’s said that his presence can still be felt when he brushes up along guests' legs inside. Maybe that’s just Jasper, the current hotel cat.

Dogs are allowed on Crescent Hotel Ghost Tours with prior approval from the tour guide and other participants. Two pets of any size are welcome to stay overnight for an additional fee of $35 per pet, per night.

Bring Fido to this elegant home away from home that dates back to 1859. Just don't tell him that it's been called “The Most Haunted Hotel in Texas” thanks to its more than 32 resident ghosts. The Menger Hotel’s most famous ghost, former President Teddy Roosevelt, has been spotted sipping on a phantom mint julep in the Menger Bar, where he once recruited Rough Riders for the Spanish-American War. The ghost of Sallie White, a Menger chambermaid who died in 1876, is the most active spirit at the hotel and has been seen wearing her uniform and roaming the halls by numerous guests.

During your stay, make reservations for the Sisters Grimm’s Ghost Dinner Tour that begins at the on-site Colonial Restaurant. After a gourmet meal paired with ghost stories of The Menger, you and your pup can enjoy a dog-friendly walking tour of San Antonio. The Menger Hotel welcomes up to two dogs with a combined weight of 50 pounds for an additional fee of $125 per stay.

Book a room at The Seelbach Hilton Louisville, located in the heart of the city’s historic downtown. This grand, pet-friendly property was the setting for the fictional wedding of Tom and Daisy Buchanan in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby.” The Seelbach's ghost story begins with a real-life wedding in the early 1900s when a bride, wearing a blue dress, discovered that her groom had been tragically killed in an automobile accident on the way to the hotel for their wedding. Overcome with grief, she committed suicide by throwing herself down the elevator shaft. The Lady in Blue, as the spirit of the doomed bride is now known, still haunts the hotel. Guests have reported the lingering smell of her phantom perfume, and they also have seen her walking down the halls before she vanishes into the closed elevator doors.
