During the day, Fido can join you while you fish at the four-acre Mill Pond, fed by Lake Carmi, or take one of the campground’s paddle boats, kayaks, or canoes out on the water. If your pup prefers land over water, take him hiking in Lake Carmi State Park, or simply let him have fun running off-leash in the campground dog park. On Friday evenings, bring him to make new friends on two legs and four at the community camp fire. Dogs of any size are allowed for no additional fee.

Camp Cardinal RV Resort offers fun for the entire family, including Fido. Let him run off leash in the Bark Park, a large fenced area featuring an agility course complete with a dog bone jump, tire jump, wait table, A-frame ramp, and walk & weave posts. Human campers can enjoy the water zone, jumping pillow, kayak rentals, and more. Be sure to check their calendar for scheduled events like the annual Pet Paw-ty and end-of-the-season puppy swim. Dogs of any size are welcome at RV sites and in select pet-friendly cabins for no additional fee, but they are not allowed in tent sites.

Camp at Andersen’s RV Park on the Ocean in Long Beach, WA, and you’ll not only be doing Fido a favor, you’ll be helping pets at the local no-kill animal shelter through the park’s “Dollars for Doggies” pet fee. Of course your own pup will love receiving treats upon arrival, and he’ll have a ball in the large, off-leash dog park and on miles of pet-friendly trails including the nearby Discovery Trail, first blazed by Lewis and Clark. The park just asks that “dogs have owners leashed” when not in the dog park. Let him play in the sand and surf of Long Beach, then get cleaned up in the hot outdoor shower before relaxing to sunset views over the Pacific Ocean. Three dogs of any size are permitted for an additional fee of $5 per dog, per stay.

Although camping with Fido at Harpers Ferry/Civil War Battlefields KOA is fun any time of year, you won’t want to miss the final day of pool season each September when it all goes to the dogs. Each year, the annual dog swim also includes a weekend of dog-themed events like a kids and dog paint party and dog games. Your pup can enjoy the many features of the Bark Zone Dog Park anytime of year, like a doggie teeter-totter, fire hydrant, weaving poles, and plenty of room to play ball or fetch. Multiple dogs are allowed for an additional fee of $1.50 per dog, per night.

Two enclosed dog parks, one on each end of the campground, would normally be enough to top the list of pet-friendly campgrounds in Wisconsin, but Al’s Fox Hill RV Park and Campground goes above and beyond. A new dog pond will give your pup a place to cool off after running in the dog park, exploring two miles of nature trails, or hiking at Devil’s Lake State Park. In the evening, relax in one of the many hammocks scattered throughout the campground, including at the dog park, or catch a movie on the big screen by the community campfire. Catch a fiery-red sunset over the mountains while camping at Red Desert Rose Campground just off Interstate 80 in Rawlins, WY. You’ll be centrally located for a day’s drive to many national parks and monuments. If you prefer to stay close to camp, your pup can join you for a hike in Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest and Thunder Basin National Grassland, or he can stretch his legs in the campground’s fenced dog park. Allow him to join you for a game of horseshoes, or take a walk along the seven-mile Continental Divide Trail that passes through Rawlins. Dogs of any size are permitted at select tent sites and all RV sites for no additional fee.
