Posted by Billy Francis

September is the start of the school year for many, but schools aren’t the only places to open their doors this month. From rooftop dog parks to a cidery and brewery combo where you can spend quality time with your best friend, these new pet-friendly attractions deserve extra credit.

West Street Dog officially opened its doggy doors at the tail end of August, but the members-only dog park and bar is set to start operating full hours in September. Located near downtown Raleigh, NC, this diverse hangout offers daycare, a boarding facility, a dog park divided into small and large sections, and a bustling bar to enjoy with your leashed pooch (no membership required for this section). Daily passes are available for $8 and monthly passes for $28.

Bale Breaker & Yonder Cider Taproom aims to be the greatest collaboration since Labradors and Poodles gave us Labradoodles. When the Washington brewery and cidery decided to join forces, local foodies and alcohol aficionados began to lick their lips. This September, the taproom finally opens. The drinks menu includes the usual offerings like Yonder’s Cashmere and Bale Breaker’s Topcutter, plus joint efforts like East Out West, a raspberry pink grapefruit kettle sour, and a hoppy version of Yonder’s Palisades. Food will be available from rotating food trucks. Dogs are welcome throughout the taproom.

The new park is conveniently situated next door to every traveler’s first stop in town, Warren County Visitors Bureau. Learn more about the area and then let your pooch get the scoop from the local canine community in the fenced space.

Splash and Dash Groomerie & Boutique in Louisville, KY, became the area’s freshest grooming facility when it officially opened on September 7. “Play dirty - Live clean” is the company’s motto, which is why they use water conservation techniques, recycled toys and other products. Pamper your pooch with dog spa treatments, grooming, doggy dental services and aromatherapy. The boutique also stocks treats and chews that Fido can take home with him.
