June Events to Mark on Fido’s Calendar

As summer heats up, Fido’s calendar gets even busier! From getting dressed up for a puppy prom to making a splash in a SUP race, June’s pet-friendly events offer something for every pooch. Have fun in the sun as you celebrate with your dog this month!

Hippie Fest

Spend a lovely Saturday with your pooch at a grassroots festival with free-spirited people who celebrate peace, love, and all things groovy. Featuring live music, bohemian shopping, a vintage hippie car show, DIY tie-dye, giant bubble garden, cirque performers, kids activities, and delicious food, Hippie Fest is sure to entertain the entire family! The event takes place on June 4 at the Kalamazoo County Fairground. Tickets must be purchased in advance online and cost $12. Leashed dogs dressed as hippies attend for free.

PRIDE 2021

Celebrate PRIDE 2021 and support LGBTQ equality with your dog in downtown Dayton, OH. The event takes place on the weekend of June 4 & 5, kicking off Friday night with the “Affair on the Square” party. Festivities continue with a parade and PRIDE Festival on Saturday. It’s free to attend, but donations to The Greater Dayton LGBT Center are appreciated.

SUP for Pups Intracoastal Challenge 2

Bring Fido to Pioneer Park in Deerfield Beach, FL, for the SUP for Pups Intracoastal Challenge 2. This event will feature a competitive 5K race, SUP lessons with certified instructors, and free SUP rentals to help clean up the Intracoastal waters after the race. The SUP for Pups Intracoastal Challenge takes place on June 5 from 7 to 10:30 a.m. Attendance is free, but the cost to compete is $20. All proceeds benefit Salty Dog Paddle, a nonprofit surf and SUP brand that focuses on saving injured rescue dogs and marine life.

Puppy Prom 2021

Get your promposals and fancy attire ready for Puppy Prom 2021 at Doggos Dog Park & Pub in Greensboro, NC. The “pawty” will feature music, drink specials, a photographer, and the crowning of a prom king and queen. Puppy Prom 2021 takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 11. Advance registration is required. Non-members can purchase day passes for $10 per dog to attend.

Camp Hollywoof

Come to Camp Hollywoof, where your pup will be treated like a celebrity! She can lounge by the lake, take hikes, try yoga, and then chow down on BBQ. Other events include an ice cream social and a premier OSCAR party, complete with red carpet! It’s like summer camp meets Hollywood meets glamping! Camp Hollywoof will take place the weekend of June 11 to 13 at Club Getaway. Tickets cost $429 for adults and $125 for dogs, and include six meals and all activities.

Annual Rogallo Kite Festival

You and your dog will be blown away by the Annual Rogallo Kite Festival in the Outer Banks. Kitty Hawk Kites and friends will have huge kites ranging from 30 to 100 feet flying high above Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Fly a kite of your own, take part in free stunt kite lessons and kite coloring for the kiddos, or just sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular show. The Annual Rogallo Kite Festival takes to the air from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily on June 18-20. Admission is free.

Fiesta Pooch Parade

“Pawty” with your perro at the Fiesta Pooch Parade. The fiesta kicks off at 10 a.m. on June 26 and will be completely virtual in 2021, so you can get in on the fun anywhere! Dress up your pooch for the virtual parade or to compete in the costume contest. Participation in the parade is free, and each entry into the costume contest costs $10. Proceeds benefit Therapy Animals of San Antonio.

Celebrating all things dog, Barkfest will feature activities like a dog walk, scavenger hunt, Frisbee dog skills exhibition, microchipping, doggie tattoos, doggie yoga, an agility course, contests and more! Food trucks will be on site for snack breaks. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 26 & 27 at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Admission is $40-$60 for adults, and pups attend for free.
