Pet-Friendly Hotels Invite Fido to Celebrate Reopening of Washington Monument

Just in time for cooler autumn weather, visitors and their four-legged friends can return to see one of the top tourist attractions in our nation’s capital. On September 19, the Washington Monument, the iconic marble obelisk in the National Mall built to honor George Washington, will reopen to the public after three years of extensive renovations to modernize the elevator and security screening system.

In honor of this anticipated occasion, two of Washington, DC’s most pet-friendly lodgings are offering a special Pawlitical Landscape pet package for guests with dogs. At The St. Gregory Hotel and Capitol Hill Hotel, pups will be showered with presidential perks including a luxury Dupont Circle room or suite, personalized dog bowls and plush embroidered dog beds, tasty treats from Doggy Style Bakery Boutique & Pet Spa and a list of must-visit pet-friendly attractions and eateries.

In addition, Fido will receive a loaner GoPro and dog GoPro harness to film his trip to the Washington Monument and the rest of his fun-filled journey across the city. Other nearby attractions that permit dogs include the Lincoln Memorial, National Arboretum and FDR Memorial.

The Pawlitical Landscape packages start at $155 per night, and The St. Gregory Hotel will donate a portion of the proceeds from each night to Paws of Honor, a locally based national charity that provides free veterinary care and products for retired military and law enforcement K-9s in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

If you’re planning to visit the Washington Monument this fall, treat your furry candidate to a Pawlitical Landscape pet package!
