Celebrate Pi Day With Your Pup

Posted by Billy Francis

Held on the memorable date of March 14 (3/14), Pi Day is an annual celebration that encourages “mutt-amaticians” to honor their favorite mathematical constant over a slice of pie. And we’re not just talking about sweets. Bring Fido to one of these pet-friendly pizza joints and order a slice of pup-peroni to celebrate Pi Day with man’s best friend.

Rose City Pizza in Rosemead, CA answers all of Fido’s prayers on Pi Day by dishing up a dog-friendly pizza. There’s no need for your four-legged dining partner to stare lovingly at your signature Flamin’ Hot Elote pie when he has his own Pupperoni Pizza Pie to scoff down, made with a whole wheat, yeast-free crust and topped with roasted carrot puree, chicken breast, low-fat ricotta and a sprinkle of parsley on top. Your pooch will want every day to be Pi Day after he gets a “pizza” the action at the picnic tables outside.

From a pizza base for your dog to a homebase for the whole pack, Boho LA retreat is a cozy and comfortable Airbnb you can reserve nearby.

Back in 1998 when Boondoggles first opened, the pub owner’s adorable Boxer would welcome people inside. The pub’s first mascot has been immortalized forever in the funky sign that hangs above the door, reminiscent of pubs across the pond. Take your pick of the pizzas, which include John Dough, a pepperoni with romano and provolone, and Hawaii-anna, a twist on the classic Hawaiian. Pizzas may be off the menu for Fido, but he can sink his teeth into a Pup Patty by your side on the patio.

Dig into your leftover pizza in a spacious room at Kemah Edgewater Hotel. Then, wake up and paddle with your pup down the scenic living bayou in a rental from nearby Pinky’s Kayak Rentals.

It doesn’t quite match the highest altitude pizza delivery on record, made by Pizza Hut to nearly 20,000 feet in South Africa, but you can enjoy a slice at over 10,000 feet at High Mountain Pies in Leadville, CO. This welcoming neighborhood pizza joint is home to a grassy backyard full of picnic tables with views of snow-capped mountains in the distance. Send one member of your “pawty” inside to order a Square Pie with mushrooms, roasted garlic and caramelized onion on top, and share a pizza with a view.

From the Firebox with spicy jalapenos and peppers that will leave you steaming to the Silver Fern for vegans, there’s something for all tastes at this historic hangout.

Located in a historical home in the heart of St. Michael’s, Ava's Pizzeria & Wine Bar welcomes dogs to join their owners on the enclosed patio for dinner in the round and a bottle of hand-picked wine this Pi Day. This cozy pizzeria serves up delicious brick oven pizzas that you may have never tried before, including the Chef’s Favorite topped with crispy prosciutto, house-made mozzarella, arugula and balsamic reduction. Begging for crusts can be demeaning, so keep your dog’s dignity intact by ordering them an item from Hammy’s Dog Menu like spaghetti with chicken, carrots and beans instead.

Stroll back to your room with a view at St. Michaels Harbour Inn when you’re finished eating. Outside, there’s a designated dog relief area and harbor access.
