Can I Bring My Dog to Red Roof Inn?

Everything You Need to Know Before You Bring Fido

Posted by Zain Deane

There’s something to be said for an international hotel chain that consistently gives you and your pet comfort, reliability and affordability, all under one red roof. Red Roof Inn manages more than 600 properties in the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Japan. In 2018, USA Today and 10Best named Red Roof Inn the best budget hotel brand for the second year in a row. And the hotel’s mission to provide value to its customers extends to its four-legged guests.

Ready to Sleep Under a Red Roof?

As soon as you see that distinctive red roof from the highway or as you drive into town, you know what’s waiting for you at these hotels: outstanding value for your money, perks that many upscale hotels don’t offer (like free WiFi in guest rooms and free coffee bar in the lobby), and one of the best pet welcomes around. This is among the few global hotel chains that accept one dog for free at its properties across the country, and many will allow additional pets free of charge. Red Roof Inn is so committed to you and your furry friend that individual hotel managers aren’t even allowed to charge cleaning fees or request pet deposits. It’s one size fits all when it comes to Fido… as long as Fido’s size is less than 80 lbs. Actually, it’s almost one size fits all; There are a grand total of three Red Roof Inns (out of more than 600) that do not permit any pets except service animals, but this is due to external factors rather than pet-unfriendly hotel managers.

Red Roof Inn offers a hard-to-beat combination of value, comfort and strategic location. Many hotels are near highways and interstates, so you and your dog can pull over and rest after long hours on the road and get an early start the next day (did we mention the free coffee?). Small wonder that it’s long been a popular choice for road-tripping pet parents and travelers on a budget.

When you’re ready to sleep under a red roof, visit BringFido’s website or mobile app, where you can browse and book pet-friendly Red Roof Inn hotels around the country. And we do all the legwork for you. Our Canine Concierge team contacts the hotel to confirm the assignment of a pet-friendly room and can even help with any exceptions or special requests that you may have (like asking the manager to waive a weight limit or accept other animals in addition to dogs).

Remember that when you book with BringFido, you enjoy the benefit of our Pet Friendly Guarantee, and you’ll never pay a booking fee. Whenever you are ready to book, call us at 877-411-3436 to speak to one of our friendly agents, or save some time and book online. Either way, our service is free.

Red Roof Inn’s Pet Policy

One dog up to 80 lbs is welcome for no additional fee at Red Roof Inn, Red Roof PLUS+ and The Red Collection properties worldwide. The weight restriction doesn’t apply to service and emotional support animals. The hotel may not request a deposit or charge any extra fees, including cleaning fees, for the pet(s) at check-in. However, hotel management is allowed to welcome additional pets, free of charge, at their discretion.

This policy applies to all of their properties with the following three exceptions that do not accept your pet unless they are service animals:

  • The Red Roof PLUS+ in Washington, DC - Oxon Hill
  • Red Roof Inn & Suites Philadelphia - Bellmawr
  • Lord & Moris - Times Square Hotel

Note that Red Roof Inn’s extended stay brand, HomeTowne Studios by Red Roof, does not allow pets (except service animals) at many of its 50-plus locations at this time.

Above and Beyond

Red Roof Inn’s pet policy includes a charitable outreach called Mac Gives Back. Each month, the hotel highlights a different charitable cause that supports pets in Red Roof Inn’s communities across the country. The hotel chain donates $1 (up to $1,000) for every stay at the property located near the selected charity of the month.
