Give your pup an unforgettable vacation at Emerald Glen Getaway in Morris. The property’s 120 acres of meadows, trails, and forests in upstate New York provide the perfect backdrop to relax and recharge alongside man’s best friend. Fido is free to roam off leash during his visit, and he’ll enjoy getting his feet wet at one of several dog beaches along Butternut Creek. On-site amenities include water stations, a dog wash, and a practically limitless supply of toys. In the evening, you and your pup will love hanging out at The Hound Hub, a central gathering spot where you can socialize with other guests, fire up the wood-burning grill to cook a tasty dinner, and catch a lovely sunset over the meadow. Cap off the night around the campfire, toasting s’mores with your new dog-loving friends to end an amazing day.

Emerald Glen Getaway offers a variety of lodging options during your canine-centric retreat. For those who prefer to ‘ruff it,’ there are three creekside tents furnished with a futon and two camping chairs. Well-equipped cottages and cabins with electricity are available for those who love nature but prefer to sleep indoors. For the ultimate in privacy and comfort while at the farm, enjoy an air-conditioned RV, complete with separate living and sleeping areas, a bathroom, and a kitchen.

Take a Walk in the Park

From a dog’s point of view, no trip to New York is complete without a visit to Central Park. You and your pup can hike to waterfalls in the North Woods, meander through woodland trails in the Ramble, stroll the formal Conservatory Garden, or jog around the Reservoir. Furry fans of The Beatles can wander through the 2.5-acre Strawberry Fields, and all dogs will want to pose for a photo with the statue of Balto. Fido can hydrate at one of 29 dog fountains and is allowed to roam leash-free before 9:00 am and after 9:00 pm. When your pooch needs a break from walking, he can ride in style with NYC Horse Carriage Rides. The carriages have covers and warm blankets available, so your pug can stay snug and dry even in bad weather. If he gets hungry, head over to Shake Shack and order your good boy a Pooch-ini or Bag O’ Bones from the dog menu.

The Sherry Netherland is a great choice for canine comfort when visiting the Big Apple. Located next to Central Park, this iconic boutique hotel is known for its elegance and service. Humans are greeted with a welcome gift of Louis Sherry chocolates, fresh flowers, and complimentary beverages. Furry guests are spoiled with natural dog treats and the use of a comfy dog bed and bowls during their stay. Up to two dogs of any size are welcome for no additional fee.

Hang With Your Hound in The Hamptons

Fido can get a taste of the good life during a visit to the Hamptons. Begin his adventure aboard a lobster yacht with Sag Harbor Charters. The company offers fishing trips and sightseeing cruises to hidden coves and beaches around Long Island. Prices start at $300 for up to six people, and dogs sail for free. From Sag Harbor, make the 15-minute drive south to East Hampton Main Beach. There, pups can play on the sand leash-free at any time in the off-season or between 6:00 pm and 9:00 am during the summer. Feeling flexible? Join Claudia Matles Yoga for a stretch on the beach with your downward dog. Afterward, Fido can clean up with a bubble bath, hot towel wrap, and blueberry facial at The Classy Canine. Before heading home, be sure to visit Montauk, where your pup can zoom off leash along miles of white sand beaches or join you for a coastal walk framed by rolling dunes and views of Montauk Point Lighthouse.

Located a block from the boutiques and galleries of East Hampton, the Mill House Inn is a lovely bed and breakfast with incredible service and creature comforts like down-stuffed dog beds, nightly turndown treats, and a fenced yard. The inn is known for serving the best breakfast in the Hamptons, and the chef will even prepare a fresh breakfast for Fido upon request. Two dogs of any size are welcome for an additional fee of $60 per pet, per night.
