Pet Friendly Evacuation Shelters & Emergency Information for Hurricane Dorian
Last updated: November 15, 2019 at 4:11 PM
Members of the Airbnb community are opening their doors for free to displaced neighbors and relief workers deployed to help during Hurricane Dorian. Click here for more information.
Evacuees who can't locate a nearby Airbnb can find refuge in a shelter instead. Pet-friendly shelters are designed to accommodate household pets during an evacuation. All shelters require pre-registration of pets, proof of residency within the evacuation zone, and current medical and vaccination records for each pet. While in the shelter, owners are responsible for the feeding, care, clean-up and behavior of their pets.
Shelter openings are incident-specific. Never go to a shelter unless local officials have announced it is open and you have filled out the pre-registration form. This list contains up-to-date shelter information and Emergency Management contact information for Hurricane Dorian. Updates will be provided as more shelters are announced. Shelters are lifeboats, not cruise ships, and should only be used as a last resort.
