Description

BringFido and Hike to Kelp Village! 1.5 miles, rating: Easy, 1.5 hours long, Meets at Strahl Lake Kick off our Winter Hike Series with a hike to a small village that once existed within the Brown County State Park boundaries. With the holidays coming, take a nice visit to this area in search of remnants of Kelp Village, as you imagine what the holidays would have been like in the hills of Brown County over 100 years ago. This hike will meet at the Strahl Lake Shelter House and head along the original road bed towards Kelp Village. You will travel approximately 1.5 miles, in total, on easy terrain. Dress for the weather and bring along your archeologists’ eye as you explore the area in search of ruins. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a 6ft. leash and get along well with other dogs and humans alike. All hikes meet at the Nature Center where there will be short introduction, then carpool to the start location each hike. Hikes are rain or shine and will only be cancelled in extreme conditions.
