Fund Raisers - how do you go about it?

I would like to do an animal fund raiser for a local charity - but I'm not sure how to go about doing it? Does anyone have any suggestions. I'm not sure of the laws or permits I would have to have. I want to do hold it at several dog parks in Phoenix/Scottsdale sometime in 2009. I have connections and would like to put the event on. rebeccaAZ68@hotmail.com
